depends on the car, now i drive manual

matic.

Automatic
Unless you are a trucker there is no point to drive MT car

Real drivers go MT

Automático. Manual is for bydlo brainlets

Master race: Needing to know manual to even get your license, and driving manual for some years, but then getting an automatic out of laziness.

Ultraplebbes: People who think they've arrived at the last step of the previous description out of smartness, but were never able to drive manual in the first place, i.e. FUCKING AMERICANS.

Got manual license but never drive manual. I almost forget how.

Lower fuel consumption, depends a bit on the car but usually a lot less problems, better for sporty driving and motorsports, less power loss, cheaper and so on. Automatic is nicer to drive, that's the only advantage it has. Would still drive auto tho, if I wouldn't like snow drifting so much

Wym? mules dont have transmission lmao

Driving manual to get a license is the standard isnt?

USA
Manual

Not everyone is racing driver!
If you live in the country where AT or CVT is seen as "gay" or "not real", then I am sorry for you

i never tried an automatic

It kinda depends on your weather, geography and how close you drive to a dense population center.

Steep hills, ice and country driving are optimal reasons to drive a manual.

Flat, temperate city driving is optimal for autos.

Anywhere in-between is what suits you.

manual for long distance, auto within the city and short distance.

Manual, every single auto I have driven sucks in the snow and ice.

>If you live in the country where AT or CVT is seen as "gay" or "not real"
Not the case, I just think real drivers go MT because automatic is for lazies or women who can't drive at all.

If you try it just remember to keep your left foot off of the pedals. I've had couple of automatic cars and every fucking time when someone without any experience on auto drove them they would press brake with their left foot as fast as they would press clutch

I've always driven manual. See no point in driving auto unless you live in the city which I do not.

My daily driver is manual and I have a motorcycle too

Tried uploading a pic of my Mazda but its too large.

Manual, don't like auto. They are too boring to drive after a few hours.

Which bike?

youtube.com/watch?v=aIykzk6FJSo

Manual is literally better.

It looks just like this except I have a custom exhaust and tank bag on mine.
Its an old bike for sure but it was cheap, has low miles and is fun to ride.

Automatic, dont listen to the tryhards saying manual.
Unless you are a really into racing and Sunday driving as a hobby, then sure.
But having to drive every single day in a big city with shit traffic, auto is a godsend

Suzuki Bandit 600cc

Far from everyone lives in a city though.

check mine
bought a few months ago

Chile
Manual without syncros because I'm not a faggot fatty American hahahahahaha

Automatic
because I'm not a tryhard

My shitty truck is auto
My Corvette is 4 speed
My Civic is auto
My SUV is auto
for my project car I'm undecided so far

Tfw you hear someone killing a non-syncro

Fair enough

automatic

yes. i think you can do automatic only aswell

Hmm, never seen one of those in the states. Its definitely a streetfighter style like mine though, so I bet I could ride one pretty naturally. Are roads bad where you live? I have to watch for large potholes in my city.

Almost everyone in the world aside from Americans drive manuals, even grandmas in their 80s are still shifting gears and using a clutch in other parts of the world. Stop making excuses, no wonder Japan is not making cool cars anymore if their youth can't even drive manuals.

Nice, I have a Honda too, pic related

People ITT don't actually think manuals are better for anything other than MUH FEELZ right?

Maybe its just the midwest but those old cubs are becoming rare

Roads here are fine, mostly (I do live in what would be considered the most developed city in brazil). patches aren't really a problem here, but my city is rainy as fuck so there's that.

Manual for me, I'm the only member of family that still drives manual. But for much of the country, automatic is pretty much science fiction, there was even a case of a car thief that got caught because he attempted to steal an automatic car and he had no idea how it worked.

I also have a 50cc , people like them for camping and stuff, they go for crazy money on ebay if restored

I was about to bully you for driving a Suzuki but I'm actually ok with the Bandit

Manuals outclass any auto box in snow and ice.
I drive modern auto's at work all the time and even in "winter mode" new auto cars sucks ass the second you end up on slippery surfaces.

clearly yall never had to drive junk cars to get to work everyday, if my old truck was an automatic i would have been stranded when my first gear wasnt grabbing. thankfully it was a standard tranny, and i was able to use second as i would first gear and make it home

woah never seen anything like that.

Do you need a driver's license for that?

Based. First car was a 1972 Volvo 140, first barely worked but she enough power to use 2nd and 3rd only.

What objective difference does a manual transmission offer on snow and ice assuming same drivetrain layout, same snow tires, same traction control and such

There is nothing wrong with Suzuki.

You need a license, you can drive on most roads with it, but not highways
This is like my smaller one, 50cc here

Automatic

Full control over revs and what gear the car is in. Something that is absolutely crucial when it comes to driving on snow and ice, especially when going up hills.
The Mercedes I drive at work is a 2016 Auto C-class. It has winter tires, traction control and all that.
But the second you try to go uphill (or god forbid, start uphill) the car freaks out. It spins, shifts, spins some more, shifts down and it's very difficult to remain traction.
Same with my sisters auto Skoda.

But my old manual Volvo and Saab has no issues, why? Because I am in full control, I can keep the revs and power exactly where I need it.

Nah man, my first two cars were manual because that was I could afford, and they are fun when you are fooling around like going to farellones or cajon del maipo, or provinces inner roads, but automatic is the way to go when you live in a city

Rode lots of bikes but never one of those and I have always wanted to.

Your mother is a standard tranny.

If you get stuck you can start "rocking" the car back and forth and get moving, with auto this is really hard, not as effective because of the delay and you will very likely break it. Also when climbing slippery hills you can get stuck if your car decides to change gears

Only tried manuals and they are fun to drive, except for in the urban center with a billion red lights after each other

I own a Yamaha

I like automatic more in traffic, driving manual in traffic feels like im jerking a cute boy off. Otherwise manual is better imo.

yeah shit sucks so much, im on driving lesson still and the fact that i have to be in 2nd speed in turns and first in goes really sucks

>lower fuel consumtion
the 80's called, automatics beat manuals today
>motorsports
automatics shift faster and they're a staple in motorsports today

stop driving cars with shitty tires then, never had a problem in an automatic with proper studded tires

I have brand new Nokian Hakkapeliitta on all cars I drive. Doesn't help when the tranny freaks out and shits it self all the time.

Manual is outdated technology, there's no reason to not drive automatic in AD 2019

The only thing about manual transmission that I don't like is how much it can differ from one car to another. It's not too difficult with a car you're used to, though. I've never driven an automatic.

Automatic sucks in snow.

Well this was still the case ten years ago, I had a -08 automatic skoda and my dad had an identical one with manual, on highway speeds where the difference was smallest mine took still one litre more per 100km

Depends a lot on the motorsport. I'll admit, that new automatics are really good, but the reliability issues have gone only worse with those "robotic manuals" which are referred as automatic

Don't buy hakkapeliitta, they are pure crap nowadays. They got caught for cheating on tests (they sent better tires than those that are actually sold for tests) and they are now made in russia. Even the best chinese tires beat nokian and they are really expensive compared to the quality

Never had that problem, maybe you should go in for a service. The only time I got stuck in an uphill start with an old ass automatic, I just forced it to start in a higher gear and off I went. I've gotten stuck in a manual too, but that was because all the studs were gone.

Perhaps you live in a flat area, I live in Åre. Nothing but big hills here. I've driven countless automatics here and in summer it's fine. But during winter they are useless. Never had single problem in manual cars.

Manual
Dont really have a preference, I just got a good deal on this car.

I drive auto myself but this statement is objectively true. I just don't get much snow.

I drive a manual but if i lived in the big city i would drive automatic.

Pragmatism is the true redpill.

I drive both. My Volvo 960 is automatic and I drive it to work and when I have to go into town.
Otherwise I drive a Volvo 740 that is manual.

>My Volvo 960 is automatic

Ouch. My friend has a v90 and some bullshit component broke from the gearbox, it appeared that they don't make that part any more and it breaks pretty easily. He then got used one which cost ridiculously much, pretty soon after that the turbine broke. Now the car is getting a m90

Never had a problem during my 7 years of owning it. And a spare gearbox is only 450 Euro at my local junkyard. And I can always transplant a manual into it if I feel like it.

>Åre
that explains it, stockholmers can't drive

Troll or retarded? I was born here. Never been in Stockholm.

everyone knows it's a suburb to stockholm

Ah that suburb 650 km away...
