Like yesterday Russians published a "secret report" of Zhukov made in 1944 about Warsaw shortly after Warsaw Uprising. The report described the genocide Germans and collaborators from Ukraine, Russia and Baltic states made in Poland. Zhukov described the city as "dead". The question about surnames? A lot of Polish Jews who wanted to make communist careers in Soviet Union and Poland changed their surnames from Yiddish to Polish. They prefered to be perceived as "Poles" instead of Jews, because when they had to commit a lot of crimes to spread communism, they hoped for people in Russia to blame Poles for it instead of them lol. That's surely one of reasons. The other reason was the rule: "wise Jew is a hidden Jew". Jews weren't so keen to boast about being Jewish in communist movement, they prefered to keep hidden positions for tactical reasons. Polish army didn't have Geiger counters, and the lack of this equipment was ordered by our commanders. They didn't want soldiers to feel panic during the invasion. If they found out that they are already dead because of radiation, they could commit suicide or stop fighting

Russians need Crimea to dominate Black Sea in a military way. Black Sea and Danube river - according to most of theoretical models - _must_ be used by China as a main artery of Silk Road to Europe. Russians know that if they manage to take over control over Black Sea and Danube Delta, they will be able to present themselves as brokers of trade in front of Europeans and Chineses.
