It's the natural order of things. The west has always looked up to the east, except for a short time between 1830 and 1980.
American colonies were an accident. All Europe wanted was to go to China.
The West can rise and fall, but our cultures are not even 3000 years old. The nation-democracy couple is a powerful political tool, but in no way a definite solution, especially for societies for which a century or a billion lives are humanely and politically conceivable measures.
The West has always been aware of this. In 200 years in all probability China will still exist, Indonesia will still exist, Japan will still exist, Malaysia and India will exist at least to the same extent as today.
France, England, Germany, Italy? I don't know. Thailand? Not sure.
Regarding France it's a miracle a country so bent on self-destruction for the last 300 years is still relevant enough to be a country, even managed to develop a culture.

No doubt that China (and a lot of east Asia) would exist 200 years from now, unless the world ends. No matter how many times it's collapsed, it still existed later on.
As for European countries, I'm not all too sure.
