Yeah but I wouldn't call it moonshining, as the product is a proper drink that's equal quality if not better than what you get from distilleries.
I mean sure, dumb / particularly cheap people can fuck it up but it's generally good stuff, since it's just pure no-bullshit distilled fruit.

Moonshie is just unaged whisky. As a result of prohibition era backwoods distillation the alcohol content (proof) was inconsistent and some were strong enough to cause adverse health reactions over time but that's true of any liquor. Professionally distilled moonshine is usually in the 80-100 proof range, same as any other whisky. Remember that Everclear is sold in a 190 (95% alcohol) proof variety and has been around for decades, old timey moonshine wasn't any stronger than that at it's worst and was usually cut with a lot of water to make it more profitable.
