T. Arch user

Mint is life
Mint is love

What is the interface? CInnamon?

DragonflyBSD

>Windows prone to crashing
?????

Windows XP

Never got a BSOD out of fucking nowhere?

Win 10

32 bits era is over, Vladmir.

Windows 10

You can use more than 4GB of RAM in 32bit mode actually.

Probably should some kind PAE to windows, but that don't make sense. This like give good quality gas to an "old" car.

You asked what was my favorite one not what I use now.

I hate it with a burning passion.

Stop download illegal porn, fake nip.

PC:
Windows XP, Windows 7
Linux Munt
My first was Windows ME, but it's hated. Not sure if worse than Windows 89 FE (also heard horrid) I was using long after it.
DOS was nice, I even got to know all the commands. Used it when Windows was broken or for playing DOS games (most worked on 98 tho). I can't learn Linux commands for shit and use it only graphically, seems much harder and I'm too 89 IQ for that.

Cellphone:
Java-based OS, Symbian
I used those. I can't stand Jewgle's Android. I think of installing Windows Phone in place. Wish I get to know N-Gage, proto-Symbian.

I believe on that. Between Gnome and KDE, would stay with CInnamon.

I'm using this one. I heard it's easiest Linux for noobs.
But my longest internet friend got into Arch after Windows 7, the hardest one. What a madman.

Windows ME was sold without being finished.
But Windows 98SE would be on of my top three OS.

I still have XP on my previous stationary PC, I don't think it would handle anything better honestly.

Only with Windows 10.

>But my longest internet friend got into Arch
Arch isn't hard. Is unstable. Also I don't believe in AUR. I think Gentoo/Funtoo would be a better option for performance and memes and Alpine and the future replace of void for weak computers.
I would stay with OS keep getting security patches. Even with that, I don't trust them, so without that, I would be a full paranoic.

I like your friend.

unironically no
i'm using Windows 10 since 2015 and i've never ever had any of these problems that autists complain about
never got my system broken by an update
never got a single BSoD
never had Windows forcing an update in the middle of the day, interrupting me, i don't eve know how in the hell are people having this, when there is Update available, my "shutdown" button changes to "update and shutdown", so Windows updates when i'm done for today

1 time in 2 years of win 10 use after overloading my 32 gb of ram

>1 time in 2 years of win 10 use after overloading my 32 gb of ram
How?

used to be Arch until I actually started doing something with my life
and while I've always called out the whole "arch hard arch break durr" meme, using Arch to do your daily computing is simply not worth it
tried Ubuntu for the just-werks(TM) factor but I literally cannot stand using Debian anything for more than a couple days
right now I'm using openSUSE Leap + XFCE + Compton
it didn't give me any reason to switch yet

Obango LTS gnome, the patrician choice of operating system

>never got a single BSoD
I forgot that bsods exist until I was given a company-issue laptop with windows 10 installed and it had a bsod when I tried to open an XLSM file.

Went back to the admins and told them to put ubuntu on it lmao.

This is funny who the Gnome version still better than the main version.

Why you could not stay with .deb distros?

*Not him*

Open too many tabs with porn, I suppose.

>This is funny who the Gnome version still better than the main version.
the main version is just reskinned gnome.
I just replaced the "skin" package with stock gnome one.
Otherwise it's regular Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS

Xvideos and Pornhub don't have videos with so much quality for that.

I use Arch and it never crashes.

It takes a while to configure it, but if you know what you want, it's reliable as fuck.

>tf basically went from win xp to 10
>only used a pirated copy of 32 bit win 7 that my dad had to download a free version of 64 bit win 10 back when it was free
yes I know it's shit

What is your WM/DE?

That's tricky to explain. I use gnome 3 with 95% of all the window-management features configured out as a base (I just have the bar, tray, application menu and general convenience settings).

For WM, I wrote my own python scripts to fake the behaviour I had with an old manual tiling WM I used to use that stopped updating (SubtleWM).

Focus follows mouse, interaction with windows does not bring them up, and I control the mouse position with the keyboard to switch the focused window, and can send windows to cycle in pre-defined sets of positions which I can then adjust.

It's pretty cool because I have the best of the three worlds (classic DE options, tiling for better screen management, and floating windows for having, say, youtube or vlc running on top of everything a la android).

I am tempted to try ReactOS once Windows 7 will be no more supported.

I originally learned of it from GNU's website in OS we don't recommend.
Apparently it started as FreeWin95... To go into XP mode today. Shame they won't try to make Free Win 7.
APparently they lack of programmists, but were main kickstart for Wine.

Spain
Ubuntu MATE

i currently use windows because im a manchildren that needs videogames

or if you just do what they expect you to do and don't install too many things.

I use Arch because I installed it for shits and giggles and haven't hit a reason to reinstall yet (which is why I usually change distros).

Me too. But I use Wine and VM for visual novels.

ReactOS is far from being ready to daily use.

Yeah, I did a test run for it 7 years ago at uni, redid it 2 months later properly, and the only other installation I had to do was when I switched PC, but that was just a matter of porting everything.

did you try Steamplay? they have something like wine called "Proton" for windows games
protondb.com/

it's actually pretty funny how it gets a rap for being 1337 h4x epic skillz only but in practice I run into fewer problems than I did with Ubuntu.

Because Ubuntu packages all outdated mismatched bullshit that needs to run everywhere and starts getting stale after 4 months, whereas with Arch you just pick the right driver/version and everything else is synchronises and gives no trouble.

Also, pacman/AUR is a hell of a lot simpler to deal with than bullshit PPA's and apt-get. All you need to do is check their homepage once in a while and do the manual steps they suggest.

how about web browsers?

Attached: 1547842360594.jpg (515x1024, 556K)

yeah I don't think I'm going back to ubuntu ever

I always keep a dual boot of whatever is the current windows for CAD/CAE apps and the occasional game, though. Not that I use it much.

I will probably install gentoo at some point because it's a meme but probably not on my main computer.

Philippines
Debian, can be minimal but not a meme like Arch.

>Firefox is spying on me
Wait wut

All my experiences with Ubuntu are from using it at work (mandated by my company to keep all work PC's standard). I'm still running the previous LTS and it's been slowly degrading because of updates:
I can't put my password in the GDM login because nm-applet blocks the keyboard, so I need to change tty, login, to sudo kill it
The monitors randomly crash because the graphics driver is bullshit
I can't turnoff the cunt because it can't unmount the shared storage without me doing it manually, so it needs to time out for 10 minutes before giving up.

Meanwhile, arch reboots completely no problem in 15 seconds.

Flag
Debian. (i3)

I've been using only Debian no distro hopping since squeeze. For me Debian just works. I really don't mind old software. I like the universal motto. Desktop, server, pi, and latop all run same os, similar configurations and issues are very rare.

by default yes, however there are some steps that you can take to mitigate what is tracked and sent off

here is a good starting point on some things you probably want to do if you are using firefox

yes, yes of course. Why should you worry if you have nothing to hide

Attached: chrome.jpg (700x389, 56K)

Thanks, even more glad I use PaleMoon now.

Never used Chrome but if that is true it is really bad. And then you also have Microsoft keylogging.

Damn, that's sad. It sounds like it would be a perfect replacement for Windows for people who can't get into Linux.

Nope, I just stay with old games.

Well, they don't have enough money to move forward with a lot of things. They still alpha stage so this is basic for developments to test and create new code for it. Maybe, one day after MS give up to give support for every old thing and 32-bits programs it gets some attention.
