First of all it's a fact, and it means most jews are fake jews according to their own definition of who can be jew.

It's not a theory, Khazars adopted Judaism and became Jews.

The person who invented Khazar theory was a Jew who hoped it would stop anti-semitism but it just made it worse since now they can justify in their minds that the Jews that they hate are not the Jews of the bible so that's okay somehow

You can't be jew hating antisemite if they are not real jews and ethnically not even semites. There is nothing wrong in hating impostors and Synagogue of Satan, though.

Is there proof behind this? Everything I can find about it basically just says its fake except 23andme used to support it and then dropped it.

There were Khazars and they did indeed convert to Judaism, but modern population genetic inference clearly demonstrates that Ashkenazic Jews are in fact descended from a small founding population that had equal affinity with Middle Eastern Jews and Southern Europeans. The most obvious explanation is that middle eastern Jews took on Southern European wives during the Roman period.
