Having children is immoral and selfish. I try to be the best man I can be, and if I ever end up having any it will be out of weakness, not strength. Anyone can have children. It's much harder to face your own desires and instincts and say 'no.'

It's also easy to mask the guilt of being actively responsible for another human's life as something noble or masculine, but that's not entirely true either. Nobody gives you the right to bring a helpless child into this world, and just as with any action that restricts another person's freedom, it's at its core selfish. While the bond between parent and child may be the purest in some sense, it's also invariably about unilateral exercise of power on the parent's part. A child is never treated as a person, as an equal, and that's never the child's fault. The child is always innocent. Parents, not so much.
That's a responsibility I'm not sure I will ever be able to carry. I don't know how so many people think they can.

I can selfishly consume food to stay alive, but consuming food isn't necessarily immoral

To have one, I'd need to:

Having children is immoral in the same way as having a person for a pet. The child can not consent to being born, they can't object to the way they are treated, they can't help but be completely dependent on their parents for years. Having children is you taking control of somebody else's life and body so that you could feel accomplished or that you could love somebody. I'm not saying parents are bad people automatically, but having children is a huge responsibility that most people - if any - are able to shoulder.

I don't blame my parents or other parents, mind you, because I understand that wanting children is natural and feels right to most people, so don't give me any shit. I want children myself. But it's a biological desire and we don't have to follow it anymore than other base desires.
