boomers of Jow Forums rise up
i am playing Fallout 1 for the first time
i have some questions
is it worth joining the Brotherhood of Steel as soon as possible to get the Power Armor? a trip to the Glow sounds like some hardcore stuff
is it worth to pump my skills above 100%? is it even changing anything? i have 127% of one handed weapons and don't know if i should pump it higher
i kinda fucked up and i only have 3 strenght because i thought i won't be needing it if i only use small guns. However, even tho some guns, like the one im wearing right now require 5 strenght, and i am able to use them anyway and they work well. Why?
should i be in a hurry to find the water chip or the 150 days + 100 days from Water Merchants are more than enough?
Boomers of Jow Forums rise up
1. power armor makes you virtually invincible except to critical hits so its worth
2. the glow is so easy you don't even need supplies outside of a rope, you just run in, run to the corpse you immediately see, grab the item, run out (you will barely be irradiated if you do it quick and theres also no enemies in the quest required area)
3. pump skills above 100 if its for your main combat skills obviously, other skills are mostly pointless tho so don't, also your weapons are working fine cause the game isn't that hard
4. do the water chip stuff first so you don't have to worry about it cause its like maybe 25% of the whole game [spoilers] its in necropolis [/spoilers]
>is it worth joining the Brotherhood of Steel as soon as possible to get the Power Armor? a trip to the Glow sounds like some hardcore stuff
It depends how far into the game you are. The basic level of the glow (which is required to enter BoS) isn't hard, but it has lots of worthwhile items on the lower levels which has a few more difficult enemies. The glow is full of radiation and you need RadX and a rope to enter. Companions aren't damaged by radiation, so don't worry about them.
>is it worth to pump my skills above 100%? is it even changing anything? i have 127% of one handed weapons and don't know if i should pump it higher
100+ is very good to have for any skill, but for weapons it's best to have over 120 for the end of the game.
>i kinda fucked up and i only have 3 strenght
Power armor automatically gives you and additional +3 whenever you're wearing it. Having 10 strength at the start of the game is actually worse in the long run, because you can make it back.
>should i be in a hurry to find the water chip or the 150 days + 100 days from Water Merchants are more than enough?
Getting the chip is not super hard. You should have enough time, unless you're wandering outside of the town locations on purpose.
a lot of people played the bethesda published fallouts and want to have a look at the old games and play 1 and then call it quits, IF YOU LIKE FALLOUT, PLAY FALLOUT 2. seriously its arguable the best one in the franchise and is atleast better than the first overall
Do the water chip stuff before anything else. You won’t be needing the power armor until late game.
As for the glow, all you need to do is go down one floor. Just take 2 Rad-X and go to the corpse with the power armor. Beyond that, I don’t think giving anything away would improve your experience with the game.
3 ST is a little low, but it's manageable after you get power armour. As long as you didn't dump AG or IN, you're fine (Fallout 1 doesn't have a good "retard run" like Fallout 2 does, in fact it just locks off like 60% of the content if you're a dumbdumb)
>However, even tho some guns, like the one im wearing right now require 5 strenght, and i am able to use them anyway and they work well. Why?
It's not that you can't use guns if you don't meet the stat requirements, it's that you get a penalty to them if you're under it
but i like Fallout 1 so far
the climate is great, i completed all shady sands, junktown, and most of the hub quests
it's better than bethesda fallouts easily
don't get me wrong, you definitely should play fallout 1 and in fact its makes fallout 2 better but lots of people never end up playing 2 when they should
i dumped strenght mainly to increase agility
i have 10 in both AG and PER, and 8 in INT
10 PE is a little overkill, but doesn't matter too much. If you wanted to power game it, you could have left both AG and PE at 9, since there's a doctor in the BoS bunker who can increase each stat by 1 for money, but it's not that necessary
Fallout 1 is better than Fallout 2
>is it worth to pump my skills above 100%?
Is it combat skill or speech? Go up to 150, otherwise 120-130 is the safest choice, although my memory is a bit rusty and I judge more based on the F2 playthroughs that I had.
INT1 for the most fun you can have in rpg
lmao 1 is loads better than 2, though playing either over the east coast games is objectively contrarian as they only take up to 5 hours per playthrough.
>is it worth joining the Brotherhood of Steel as soon as possible to get the Power Armor? a trip to the Glow sounds like some hardcore stuff
Well normally you wouldn't get the power armor until later, but yeah if you want to be cheap and become invincible get the power armor now. Go to the hub, go to the east to the drug dealer, buy some rad away and rad x, then go to the glow. Come back and you'll be able to join. The power armor requires a few more steps.
>i have 127% of one handed weapons and don't know if i should pump it higher
No, that's high enough. Now you want to start pumping towards energy weapons, which are the stronger weapons in the game.
>should i be in a hurry to find the water chip or the 150 days + 100 days from Water Merchants are more than enough?
lmao you bought the water. The chip is really easy to get, and with power armor you can kill the mutants easily guarding the entrance to the vault.
Don't get the power armor. It ruined the fun of pplaying the game The only thing that gives you a challenge by that point are death claws, and even then you're invincible.
The master was such a good ending compared to lolnuketheenclave
Completely agree. Fallout 2 had more stuff, but the first completely nailed the theme.
The late game in 2 leads me to believe Black Isle just said “lol fuck it” and gave up. Navarro and POR can be skipped just by wearing any suit of power armor and destroying/allying with an incredibly unsubtle scientology parody is somehow an integral part of doing so.
Hint 1: If you accidentally kill the boss in the military base while he’s knocked down on the ground reload, his standart dying animation is awesome.
Hint 2: At the very end of the game you can enter combat and shoot. This is also awesome as a kid I reloaded and did it over and over and over...
I'll replay FO1 and 2 as soon as I finish Dishonored 2. It's been a while. Some of my favorite games (tho I personally prefer Baldur's Gate 2 over them)
I still need to play in old forgotten realms games, but just have been replaying Fallout 2 and at the end game it feels the same like at first gameplay just unnecessaringly boring
Yes Fallout 2 is a bit uneven, and it's a bit too humorous too, I feel it missed its tone a bit.
You purists and elitists may say what you want, but Fallout 2 is still by far the most acclaimed and liked title of the franchise.
No it fucking isn’t. Half the game is pop culture references and there’s literally a puzzle room in the Enclave’s base. 2 was easily the worst in the series and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why.
