No, learn a qt wife to get an X >Should I learn lang Y so I can learn lang X? Learn Z instead >What is the most useful language? Dutch >What language should I learn? The language of L O V E O V E
and of course i forgot to link to the old one...and last challenge so far others have finally begun to help out and make nice challenges
so feel free to chip in if you want to, it's not that hard, and it's good to have at least one challenge per thread to keep people focused and practicing instead of shitposting
This is a reminder that you can contribute to new Duolingo courses and to the wiki.

Unless you have a reason to choose Danish specifically, Swedish/Norwegian would be easier choices. Danish supposedly has the most difficult pronunciation of the 3, but I'm not an expert.
How long do you guys usually spend on an Assimil lesson with a new language? I have been using the Dutch instructions with French Assimil course and also writing out the dialogue after I've finished the lesson. This takes about 30 minutes.
any good childrens shows/movies in swedish to watch?
Ryan Moore
hmmm anything in particular you want? dubs, full-on Swedish productions, live-action, cartoon, age-group, etc
Hudson Stewart
$50-60 for an Assimil book + audio CDs is not that bad considering the quality though

How did children learn Chinese in pre-modern China? I'm reading the 1000 character classic and it seems like an utterly based way to get classical vocab. What should I read next? I want to follow what they did.
I have not noticed any issues in the Spanish/English one I have. Although I don't believe there are any, it is entirely possible there are a few mistakes I overlooked or didn't hear when I went through it.
There are also several different versions for each language.

How are you all doing?

Doing well. Almost bed time. How about you?

Nathaniel Cooper
Just fine, thank you. Keeping a sleepless eye on the thread as usual.
I don't really mind. Preferably cartoonish though. I've been really into watching mumindalen.
Nicholas Hernandez
I dunno if I wanna watch a movie or not
Cameron Gray
N-nej.
Hmm... gonna have a look around. I remember more live-action things from my childhood than cartoons (that weren't the usual Disney/Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network dubs). This list is pretty much live-action shows. sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategori:Svenska_barnprogram_på_TV Glancing over the list, one I know is a cartoon is Kalles klätterträd, though.
Other than that, maybe go for dubs of other shows, like Spongebob or some shit, I dunno. (The dub on that one is actually really, really good btw. They really went out of their way to get the voices as close to the originals as possible for Spongebob and Patrick, and I think even Squidward.)

For any of you who learned German, how long did it take you to be able to read proficiently? I've been learning semi-consistently for maybe 4-5 months now. Currently working through this little book specifically designed for learning German. I want to read Kafka in German. So I'm more interested in reading than speaking, not that I don't want to learn to speak, but that's something I'll be learning for a years, being able to read is sort of my main goal though

now I want to learn only Romance languages such as Spanish, French and Portuguese
I don't wanna spend years anymore to get a B2 in some obscure language instead of learning 2 or 3 languages that will open me entire nations with hundreds of millions of women with large breasts and big bunda.

Reading consistently depends on the material news articles and other sachliche texte ,1 year months , actual literature took me 2,5 years but this 2,5 year thing is assuming you take no breaks and study at least 2 hrs a day.
Literature like kafka is the hardest stuff to read in languages
