fair enough, I guess it's just a scary thought because it'll be the longest I've been away from home alone and I know nothing about the country or the language. If I go I'll be flying out to Amsterdam mid-late February.

Assuming you'll live in Amsterdam you honestly don't need to speak Dutch as >90% of the people here can hold a conversation in Dutch, hell there are employees that don't even speak Dutch in the center of Amsterdam, but honestly I would just try to at least try to learn some Dutch even if it's really basic out of respect and also learning a new language is a lot easier if you are actually in the country where they are speaking it
