من متى تتعلم عربي؟
fucking maghrebis ruined arabic for me
hey op, don't fall for the mashriq dialect meme or the maghrib dialect for that matter, ditch whatever you're on right now and learn modern standard arabic, once you do you can easily transition into every existing dialect and even onto classical arabic if you wish to read old poems and books
stop wasting time learning dialect arabic
صارلي سنتين عم اتعلم العربية الشامية
If the point is to speak and understand dialect so that I can actually communicate with people why not just go straight into it?
I am also learning Standard but just reading mostly. desu after learning dialect , the standard doesn't sound that different except for all the diacritics.
كيف تعلمتها وليش؟
Shami is a good choice it's easy on the ear and universally understood, classier than some other choices too.

They speak a weird ugly dialect no one likes or understand anyway.
لا انا بكاليفورنيا. اجى كتير سوريين هون بعد الحرب الاهلية و عشان هيك عندي كتير رفقات سوريين وكمان في مطاعم لبنانية كتير.
that's exactly the reason, you can communicate exclusively with standard arabic with almost every arab speaking person. In fact that's how it happens most of the time between arab speaking natives from far away countries and different dialects, we just switch to standard arabic for words that we know are hard to understand for the other party and its a perfect system for everyone involved. No arab speaking native learns a specific dialect in order to communicate with others, instead we learn standard arabic in school and go on from there. I can guarante you that almost every arab speaking native is able to understand you and communicate with you in standard arabic.
So the advantage lies in the fact that you can target all arabic speaking persons with just one variation of the language instead of increasing your learning time in order to target a specific dialect

ليش اخترت هاي اللهجة و مش اللهجة المصرية مثلا
Now I understand your point. You're right but as of now I am only focusing on the dialect of people i interact with daily. Perhaps if I travel to the Arab world I will work on my standard more beforehand.
this
if that's the case than I guess you have a reason to learn a specific dialect, however keep this idea in mind in the future
نعم وكمان بحب كنافة نابلسية
ما بحب اللهجة المصرية كتير. اللهجة الشامية حلوة وفي بلدان مختلفين الي يستخدمها كمان .

We have different ones. The east (mine) is similar to the rest of the gulf, hijazi is closer to Egyptian to my ears, and najdi is in my opinion rough and ugly, my personal opinion.
