Planning a month-long trip to Japan.
I've got 4 days where I don't have anything planned, and I thought that I might use them to visit Shikoku.
What are some cities in Shikoku I should visit?
>inb4 iya gorge
I've looked into that already, but public transport sucks there.

WHY?
Embarrassed by your own country?
KYS
Do you love Japan?
why so rude? i'm just a tourist
like, not love
>Shikoku
Why
Shikoku is a very rural area.
because of mikan and sudachi
Mate I live in the same shithole that Gordon Ramsay came from but that doesn’t mean I want to be here even less so if he was a fictional characer ya prick
but those are fruits are shikoku is a beautiful agriculturally influenced island that is much less developed than honshu and kyushu and that therefore offers a taste of ages long gone by
or Japan thread might be able to answer. Shikoku is a pretty niche area.

Dogo Onsen
When will you visit Japan?
I'll show you around Japan.
That sounds like a good idea 2bh
I'll arrive in Tokyo on march 14th and after that pic related
>toyama
why don't you go to Kanazawa
Toyama looks prettier I think
wew
full month in there?
mustve gotten some money
going there for less than a month isn't worth it if you consider jet lag, plane tickets, etc
it might be different from korea though, i guess
so you want to see some average Japanese city?
t. haven't been to Hokuriku in my life
yes
i think that toyama is a good choice because of the japanese alps that tower it
i'm still looking for destinations in shikoku though
I live in Tokushima, it’s shithole. Nothing worth watching.
I'm not sure what you're basing your city selection on but you really should add more days to Kansai. Arrival - Full day - Departure is fucking nothing. There's Kyoto, Himeji, Nara and Osaka that you really should at least check out. Also Horyuji and Koyasan if you have the time.
And yes I know about the Kyoto hate memes.
nagano is better
i'd just slurp udon in kagawa in shikoku.
also
>iya gorge
you've read Alex Kerr?
hmm what about mima, naruto and oboke? they seem to be recommended destinations in tokushima prefecture
and kochi is apparently also worth visiting because of the alcoholic people that inhabit it
i've thought about koya-san, but the jr pass doesn't cover the train connection to that place
also the hate memes are about osaka, not kyoto, i think
how so?
is it worth staying in kagawa for longer than 2 nights? are there good places to go to beside the prefectural capital?
>alex kerr
nah, i've just read the wikitravel page about shikoku
the crow village seems really cool, i'd love to go there, but if you don't have a rental car it's apparently really hard to visit
bigger version of the pic
hate meme goes to both
>kagawa
i like this, you have to go up 1300 steps to get to the main architecture
en.m.wikipedia.org
if i lived in Shikoku i'd not mind taking you to the gorge but I live in Kanto sorry
Tokushima = redneck
Kochi = nigger
Kagawa = Jew
Ehime = middle class
>Katohira
I'll include that in my itinerary, also Dogo Onsen, thanks
Huh, alri
the onsen is infamously rumored that faggots meet up there, be careful

I've tried finding her instagram and stuff too, but I don't think that she has one.
The best I could come up with is this video. youtube.com
What if you're just trolling me and I'm gonna get buttraped by fags if I go there?
it'd arouse me
that's gay, man
imo consider hiroshima/miyajima
and also maybe adding a couple more days to tokyo since there's a shit ton to do there and some time is taken up by arriving/departing
isn't hiroshima very depressing to visit because of the nuke?
the museum about the bomb there is well built/designed and you learn more about this part of history from a perspective that you can't easily find somewhere else
i guess if these things affect you a lot you can skip the city
It's a perfectly ordinary city outside of the nuke park.
The museum is interesting and has a great digital library section with survivor testimonies. It's not a joyful place for sure, but it's less depressing in tone than Auschwitz, for comparison.
dude Miyajima and Itsukushima
Momiji manju is nice too
Thanks lads.
>not love
You will love Japan.
bait thread_?
I just briefly stopped in Kanazawa but it has a nice castle and garden. It was nice to see a smaller Japanese city. There was plenty that I did not have time to see there, and I'd imagine you'd find more to do than Toyama for 5 days. But it sounds like you made up your mind, so I hope you have a good time.
May I ask if you've been to Japan before? I'm surprised that you are spending so little time in the Kansai area compared to other places.

go on a pilgrimage
What is there to do in Kanazawa? I feel don't feel like I missed anything after I visited the castle ground (didn't bother visiting the garden, though) this early january. I spent a night then went immediatly to Tokyo after.
Excellent thread.
I was only there for an afternoon, but I was more impressed by the garden and there was a well known seafood market that felt very cozy and shouwa-era-ish. I missed most of the city. It was the only major city besides Kyoto spared in WW2, so there are apparently nice old districts.
This is what I read before coming:

I fucking regret everything. My book didn't specify much what to see in Kanazawa. Now, I want to see the garden and those old streets and that gold tea room (I was there mainly to appreciate the traditional architecture and the onsen).
