a "parasite fighter" meant to fly with huge bombers and only detach when interceptors threaten the bomber
concept of the 1950s, obviously not a successful concept

This is really fucking cool. I was wondering how its gonna get back home if it survives the engagement, and the whole docking routine is mind blowing. Too bad it was so difficult

Are you an expert on the topic or are you just repeating memes you've heard somewhere? Because the people said the same shit about the Hornet when it came out.

its getting better

the future is here

The F-35 is literally the most capable combat aircraft out there right now. And certainly the only 5th generation fighter with guaranteed long term support. It already has a unit cost comparable to or lower than eurocanards.

You're repeating literal russian/chinkshill propaganda.

The problem really aren't those issues, i know that the F-35 is a pretty good aircraft(when everything is fixed), the problem is how the program has been going on for over 10 years and still ain't fully operational.
Sure it's filled with new tech, but when you keep charging more billions for updates and fixes and nobody in the government takes action... that raises some eyebrows.

for being a tremendously expensive piece of shit it looks fucking incredible

What exactly is wrong with it? Is there a better fifth generation fighter out there you say?

Watch 11:30 and out: youtube.com/watch?v=yuFk_zvunq8

Nobody else in the world is doing this kind of R&D so there is nothing to compare it to. Lets see if the competition can field a fleet of 5th Gen fighters in 10 years, whenever they start to develop them.

I ain't saying that there's a better option, like China never releases any info and Russia is suffering to make their own fleet and the rest of the countries who can make are searching for partners that probably won't be able to afford it.

For me, the problems are that is too fucking expensive, i don't think countries outside US, UK spectrum will able to afford to keep them at long time.

too long didnt watch:
they have augmented reality helmets, can track it's surroundings without ground support, and when you go in stealth mode you can look down as there was no body at all like you are floating in the sky. This is why they say it's invicible.

The program is not handled even remotely optimally, but most of the costs are real and a result of trying to compensate for costs down the road by upfront investment.

It's working basically how it was supposed to, just over budget and behind schedule.
>not operational
they're operational. Have been for like 2 years now. Read up on the introduction of any 2nd, 3rd or 4th generation fighter jet, you'll see it's usually a gradual process fraught with setbacks and a few deaths.

The F-35 is cool as fuck
I remember when I was a kid and super into jets I was so excited for it to come out

Yeah. I was waiting for it for a long time

looks like something you might see in Halo

what was even the point of the F-22 if they shut down the production line after like 200 aircraft?

To btfo the soviets and/or chinks. Turns out they didn't need it because the soviets had a bir of a failure to exist.

I said fully operational friend, if things go down the shitter today, that would be a problem.

it would become fully operational very quickly if there was a pressing need. military procurement is always sluggish in peacetime

wow so brits were really just americans in disguise all along

is that paintjob legit?

When it comes with being the US military, things like these shouldn't be this troublesome.

yes

when you have a plane so good that it can win in any situation, you don't need all that many. also I forgot where, but supposedly the US will be starting up production of a brand new F-22 variant.
F-35 might as well be cannon fodder.

For Japan, right?

Old boy but lethal.

Attached: file.png (1024x768, 788K)

I believe in the article it said that a single unit was going to cost like 500 million to make.
We don't sell the F-22 because it's still too advanced for other fighters.
>F-35 fags btfo

cringe

I said because Japan have been trying for years to make their own 5° gen but no success. They tried themselves and failed, then they tried to make one together with Lockheed and then it never made it, i think now they're trying alone again.
My guess it they'll keep the F-35's.

>This is why they say it's invicible
It's not, though. No matter how good the stealth technology is, there will be a greater than zero reflection of radio waves and emission of other types of signals. Even now using UHF/VHF (ultra/very high frequency) radars it is possible to detect the presence of stealth jets, although getting a lock is quite difficult. But with a sufficiently advanced missile system you really only need to send it in the right direction and have other types of sensors take over once there.

Give helis some love.
