lmao. Literally every comp sci kid I know who is graduating next year will be going to US for masters.

Soviet STEM school was somewhat good and some of that still remained (but is almost dead tho). Add popularity of programming due to relatively high wages (median wage in Moscow is $600 and median wage of a programmer is $2500) and so you got a competitive environment from which the best of the best come to the West.

Nah, I work as a professional programmer in a very large office of other programmers and I'd say like 50% of the staff are not native to the UK, if not more.
