I also noticed that this is way bigger news in Germany then in France, so i assume the french arent too happy about it.
Well the extreme right and left aren't happy with it and were trying to spread disinformation about the treaty before it was signed. But I think most moderates like me are happy about it. The 1963 treaty didn't really need to be completed, but I think the new treaty was signed to serve as a symbol of sorts. To show Italy and other Eurosceptic countries that the Franco-German couple is still willing to cooperate, so I'm very happy about it and hope the treaty is followed by concrete action.
I can understand why the right doesnt want this, but why the left? Is it to undermine the government/ Macron? Or do they despite Germany?Or something else?
