Orientalism

A thread for Westerners who are interested in the culture, religion, art, music, mythology, ideas, and peoples of the East.

Asia has always been a mysterious, exotic, alien land to our cultural imagination, it makes sense why it fascinates us.

Always found it interesting how in Eastern Asian mythology, dragons are worshipped and respected, while in Western European mythology, dragons are greedy pillagers and must be slain by heroes

Wonder what this says about the difference in philosophy and mindset between West and East

Attached: xsoK9Xm.jpg (3150x2442, 1015K)

Why do some countries but a dragon on their flag or some lower lords put them on their standards?

Possibly to look fearsome?
I'm not quite sure

Egypt probably
>Pre-Egyptians (Blacks)
>Egyptians
>Moses
>Persians
>Greeks
>Romans
>Early islamic empires

Where should I start with reading up on Eastern religions?
