>allowed the Canadian dollar to float to a natural level, which encouraged more exports
>when he was younger and was President of the Treasury Board, he had a reputation for not handing out money (was nicknamed "Dr. No")
>didn't increase immigration throughout his long tenure as PM
>when a man with a knife broke into his home, he used an Inuit statue as a weapon before security arrived
>put a protester in a chokehold
>his economic policies helped reverse brain drain to bring intellectual human capital back home
>as a result of all this, Canada was more united, more prosperous, had higher job growth, etc. by the end of his tenure than in the previous 50 years before him

In the election campaign that would lead his party to a majority government, his opponents ran an ad which tried to make him look bad because of his partial facial paralysis (pic related). He responded by saying God gave him a physical defect, which he accepted, causing him to speak out of one side of his mouth instead of speaking out of both sides like a Tory.

He's still not my favourite PM of all time, though. That's a tie between Diefenbaker and Pearson.
