Chretien.

>ended years of deficits and had 11 (ELEVEN) consecutive surpluses
>hired a fiscally conservative Finance Minister to make sure the budget was sound
>supported welfare but was outspoken against lazy people and cut their benefits, and spoke against gaming the system by working and then quitting once they qualify for social assistance (includes people who made lots of seasonal work money and then lived off welfare for the rest of the year)
>because of the above, he did not expand social programs but changed them to make them more efficient
>told people who couldn't find a job despite being educated that some people were just "unlucky" and that they should move somewhere else for a job
>smelled bullshit about WMDs in Iraq so he kept us mostly out of the Iraq War
>actively promoted trade missions to other countries to boost the economy
>allowed the Canadian dollar to float to a natural level, which encouraged more exports
>when he was younger and was President of the Treasury Board, he had a reputation for not handing out money (was nicknamed "Dr. No")
>didn't increase immigration throughout his long tenure as PM
>when a man with a knife broke into his home, he used an Inuit statue as a weapon before security arrived
>put a protester in a chokehold
>his economic policies helped reverse brain drain to bring intellectual human capital back home
>as a result of all this, Canada was more united, more prosperous, had higher job growth, etc. by the end of his tenure than in the previous 50 years before him

In the election campaign that would lead his party to a majority government, his opponents ran an ad which tried to make him look bad because of his partial facial paralysis (pic related). He responded by saying God gave him a physical defect, which he accepted, causing him to speak out of one side of his mouth instead of speaking out of both sides like a Tory.

He's still not my favourite PM of all time, though. That's a tie between Diefenbaker and Pearson.

fuckin BASED post
would replace pearson though with laurier

Laurier is definitely one of my top picks. It's a shame we don't have leaders of their calibre anymore.

Sweden
hollande will always be my president

is he gonna make it for 2020?

Attached: hollande shooting a bow.jpg (757x496, 56K)

why?
probably, he's older than trump but quite obviously far more mentally sound than him

because of his unmatched meme potential
