Because nations without carrier didn't wanted the plane to be carrier compatible, so we left.

Europe wanted an air superiority fighter.
France wanted an multirole fighter operable from an aircraft carrier.
Europe made the Eurofighter.
France made the Rafale which is even better than the Eurofighter in air superiority.
Morale of the story ? Give to France the money and let us do what we think is good. Don't forget that we had litteraly invented aviation

Rafale looks so much sexier than the gayrofighter

frenchies make good planes , most air kills of a supersonic jet is on a french jet

what about the anglos?

they had the Harrier

B&r

they had. but they don't make it anymore.

are they going to buy us aircraft for ever? nice colony

Britain was pretty heavily involved in development of the F-35 iirc
and they're about to develop a new generation fighter, the Tempest

if you guys didnt embargo us and steal our ships we'd probably be bombing in syria with rafaels now and shooting gazan terrorists with famas and laclerc

dont they have that already ? it's the anglo jug IIRC

Serious answer: all European countries prefer multirole fighters because they're too poor for dedicated air superiority fighters and dedicated bombers. All countries involved in the Eurofighter project (all major powers minus Britain, which favors the F-35) except France favored 'defensive' planes, ie. multirole fighters with a heavier air superiority focus. France, being more foreignly involved, wanted to emphasize bombing capabilities. This split was unresolvable, resulting in France pulling out and creating a fighter that fit its needs. A fighter that ended up being better than Yurofighters in most measurements by the way.

In certain measurements (like climbing speed) the Eurofighter is better, but the irony is that a bombing-focused Rafale would probably take down an dogfight-focused Eurofighter in a dogfight. It's almost as if forcing a bunch of different countries with different demands and preferences to create a single fighter results in inefficient and contradictory shit or something. I'm inclined to believe the entire Eurofighter project was mostly political posturing.

forgot pic
a modernized tempest could totally work , for one it's nearly undetectable to IR guided weapons

>the Tempest
so, anglos will have the best planes in europe.

bring back airships

probably along with the Franco-German next-gen fighter

What makes you believe the Germans won't fuck it up again like the Eurofighter project? What makes you believe that a country that can barely keep more than five jets combat ready at a time will somehow produce a better fighter jet than the world's sole superpower?

because it'd be a FRANCO-German fighter

As if the French have the money to spend on it. Most investment would likely come from Germany, or the French will have to loan themselves into an even bigger deficit.

why are you so angry?

Because I made the mistake of having expectations.
