I think it is not just historical events. Having strong opinions about unimportant shit or stuff that by definition is just a personal preference is another example of that. They argue about food (based on the way it looks in pictures!), argue about cars, city planning, the way people dress, and just rate rate rate everything and everyone. 'anything that is not familiar to me is shit'. It is a mentality of immature manchildren and literal kids.
