I literally paid only 5000 rupees for setting up the entrance exam + classes.
First you have a theoretical exam where you are taken into a room full of computers and you have to answer multiple choice questions about different road safety rules, hypothetical situations and how you'd respond to them. Pretty easy and I got 96% right.
The practical exams are around 3 months later and you go to classes until then. These exams are intentionally strict as fuck though so that you have to give the test again later.. After failing for 3-4 times, you are approached by one of the employees who passed you if you give them a bribe. The exams are way too strict for example if you don't adjust the mirrors before getting in the car, you're failed. If you don't pull up the handbrake before you attempt to drive, you're failed. If you don't adjust your seat before driving, you're failed. And the other things (putting in the seatbelts, etc).
You have to drive in an L shaped road and then drive in reverse all the way back.
When I went to give my test, only me and another guy passed out of the 40 people that had given the test that day.
For the motorbike the test is that you have to drive in a very thin road that is shaped like an "8" . If your bike wheels touch outside the road, you'll be failed.

18x 1h sessions of theory lessons, 19x 45min driving sessions, a day at a slippery track and night driving simulator session. Theoretical exam and driving exam. And that's the minimum you have to do to pass the tests and get your licence. I didn't take a single extra lesson and I didn't fail my theory or driving once.

Oh and motorcycle was just short of 2000€. It's basically same as with car but ~15-20% less lessons, no slippery track either. Also you can only drive up to 25kW bikes until you're 21, at 21 you have to take a new exam to upgrade your licence to allow you to drive +25kW bikes.

Doing my license was one of the most stressful things I ever had to do. I was stressed out to hyperventilation before every test because I knew that if I fail that's another chunk of money in the wind and the instructors are told to nitpick on the first few tests for extra income. Ended up passing on my third try, woke up with a fever that morning and was faded as fuck, but it the end it helped me.
I'm so fucking glad I'll never have to do that shit again.
