Eastern faiths are not exclusive.

You can be Shinto AND Buddhist

>non-Christian country is non-Christian
Whoa.

Not really. You can’t be both Hindu and Shinto.

Oh Yes you can.

I pray to Hindu gods but when in Japan I prayed at many Shinto shrines.

My mom is Buddhist and she prays at Hindu shrines

Does anyone ever convert to Shinto?

I "converted" during my chuuni weeb years so I could gain sacred wisdom and devilish onidakedaikatana from tengu masters.

there's no conversion process and being "shintoist" doesnt mean anything

you just pray to gods if you want if you dont thats fine too (though if neglected sometimes they're angry)

This sounds refreshingly sane and unobtrusive to others.

Eastern religions don't have a conversion process.

Just go to shrine and pray

what can you expect from CIA niggers

If you ask Japanese what kind of religion your family belong to, I guess
85-90+ % Buddhism
5 % shinto

usually people hold funeral in Buddhist manner. that is the reason they answer that way.
while they, especially in rural area, also belong to the near shrine. and sometimes ask a 神職 for some kind of ritual.

number of
Buddhist monk : 370k
shinto 神職 : 21k

why are weddings in Japan in a Christian fashion?

Do Christozoids belive all Japs go to hell because none of Jesus deciples bothered traveling to Asia to spread Gods message?

Shinto weddings are also fairly common

t. Saw some myself in Kyoto

women prefer the wedding dress that is cheaper than kimono. thats it.

Over 1 million is still more than all of Europe combined.

No but they should.

What is syncretism?

Yeah. Buddhism for instance could be said to be atheistic in its strictest forms, despite having a massive religious cosmology, which is curious. However, not surprisingly, atheism doesn't respond very well to the religious needs of ordinary folk, so Buddhism has this attitude of "worship your local gods if that's what floats your boat, but it ain't gonna help you attain enlightenment".

As far as I understand, Shintoism is intimately tied to the Japanese land. Meaning that it wouldn't make sense even for a Japanese person to pray to the Shinto gods if he finds himself in another country. Shintoism is also not a proselytizing religion as some have pointed out itt.

I've never understood this mentality. Doesn't the parable of the good samaritan directly contradict it?

How many jews and muslims?
