In Georgia, their Abkhaz and Ossetian puppets asked for their help and Russia actually gave them help, in other places like Ukraine or Moldova, they backstabbed their allies. If Belarus wasn't part of the USSR and to a lesser extent Russian Empire it wouldn't have been fucked. Then when we got independence the president decided to get dependent on Russian gibs because it allowed him to stay in power, and used them to keep everything as is to keep his popularity. So he could destroy the civil society that sprouted after USSR collapse and use Russian money to pretend like the country's progressing.

So a lot of it is our own fault, but if Russia didn't want us to be in their sphere of influence, it wouldn't have happened. Maybe it was charity on their part, but I doubt it.

As a result, Judenrat and jewish police was staffed by randoms, most of whom ended up helping the underground resistance - who in their turn didn't want to do anything at first because "what if we get freed soon and nkvd executes us for resisting nazis on our own initiative". Then when they did start their activities, they called themselves "Second Cell of the Party" or something like that because they were sure there was a first cell somewhere in Minsk, and spent a lot of time searching for party officials to tell them what to do at first. But when they did, most of judenrat and jewish police cooperated with them, which let them save many lives.

1) It doesn't really matter all that much actually, Ruskis spend more on Crimea than they gain from it (except for the sea access for their fleet (which is shit))
2) Ukraine is much poorer and has a shittier military than Russia, and if a military invasion happened it's not guaranteed that surrounding countries will back Ukraine up in any way
