we have it in most restaurants, usually doesnt cover alcohol or specialty drinks/shakes though, but it probably doesnt help obesity when you can just get gallons of extra soda for free if you want

Soda is all over the place. You can get a 1 or 2 liter, or you can get a 20 oz bottle or 12 oz can, and that's ignoring whatever the small/medium/large cups are in restaurants.
