Yes furing my mission trip there were converts, I am still in contact with some. Missionaries do other work too, it's not just about converting people.
I have been to Kiev, I found everyone to be very nice and I enjoyed myself. I imagine there are challenges for missionaries there though.

It's perfectly fine to marry someone from another faith but there are some problems. Some are found in all interfaith marriages like how to raise kids, some are specific to Mormonism like eternal marriage. Mormons aren't married "until death do us part." Mormons are sealed eternally in a temple ceremony. Non-Mormons can't partake in this ceremony. There are lots of interfaith mormon marriages though so it's just up to each couple to work out how they want to do it. Your Muslim wife would be welcome in church and church functions of course, and I expect she would be treated warmly.

Look up your local ward and call them. They will send a missionary team to your home or anywhere you want to meet. They will answer all of your questions and give you some literature. There's no pressure, they won't harass you or try to convert you if you don't want but they will give you accurate information.
The internet is good for learning of course but it's difficult to navigate through all of it. Some is accurate, some inaccurate, most if it is way out of context.

If there was someone in the ward that could help they would though, like an immigration attorney or someone that has family/friends in the US that could offer you a job.
