That doesn't look like good chouriço, though. Too far into the spice/meat ration. The fat part is red-ish instead of white, and everything seems blended together. Those are usually used as a way to season, as opposed to something to eat with bread or cheese as it's own.

If I had to guess, I'd say that's Spanish chorizo rather than Portuguese chouriço, although there's probably enough variety in both countries that there's both in both countries.

yeah that pic looked like standard hungarian sausage except less random crap like connective tissue and cartilage in it pretty much, but this one looks more exotic.

Yeah, it's much more meaty and the spice is deeper. The other one is great for seasoning a Jardineira, or a caldo, but the one I posted you can just chop up and eat with bread, or if you put it in soup as content and not seasoning.

You rarely eat sausages on bread here unless they're those big ones like bologna.

But we have a whole "pão-com-chouriço" (bread with chouriço) that's it's own thing. Very good with hangovers
