Not Ireland. England.

Kevin Shields is Irish

Two of the key members are Irish and the band formed in Dublin

Bloody Valentine didnt invent shoegaze you melon. It existed in Britain years before that

Really? Name a couple of bands before them, m8

Catherine Wheel sounds better and Rachel Goswell is hotter than Bilinda Butcher (just slightly)

What type of retard are you huh? Not even the most devoted My Bloody Valentine fan would claim they invented shoegaze and most say Cocteau Twins

They're Scottish, not Engl*sh.

Shit's gay

It's fair to say mbv made the first proper shoegaze album, even if it drew heavily from Cocteau Twin's experimental works

Ooooooh I get it, none of your are actually interested in the music because you want to flag-post because this is Jow Forums and you're all obsessed with Britain

ye m8, England is REALLY lacking in musical achievements ffs

A Primary Industry & Pale Saints, but it's fair to say My Bloody Valentine are the most remembered.
Cocteau Twins aren't really shoegaze either btw to whoever said they were, they're dream pop.

Yeah I was thinking that, not really shoegaze at all

Based

same thing

Dream pop = lethargic shoegaze with simple song structures
If you really think the two genres are separable you're fucking retarded

Spaceman 3. Couple of others, I forgot their names. Fucking Jesus and the Mary Chain, in the end of the 80s in Britain that was the whole thing, bunch of kids wanting to be J&MC. MBV didn't went in the studio with the idea to create the new genre, they were basically just a really weird twee pop band after all, it's just the album gain mass in the mid 90s, but it wasn't that successful in the first place, a lot of praise came later, there was plenty other bands, working that sound who were much more popular, the recipe was fucking easy, bareboned.

Don't you get your ass beaten in that frozen shithole for less than playing that homoerotic crap?

>here's why it's separable but don't say it's separable
Odd yet welcomed argument, I'll be honest.

Why are you so frustrated, hermano? Got cucked again?

I don't know if this is right but I think of shoegaze as having that sort of droning sound whereas I don't necessarily associate that with dream pop. Genre labels these days are weird though.

If you listen to something like Spacemen 3's extended version of Rollercoaster, it adds almost 10 whole minutes of guitar feedback and the like, easy to hear how it would be so influential to musicians listening to it at the time.

its literally the opposite, shoegaze is an umbrella term of which dream pop is an specific connotation. you can have upbeat dynamic shoegaze like Ride on Seagull or fucking ear screeching noise shoegaze like The Gosslings on Grandeur of Hair or even blackgaze or dronegaze, its about the distortion and wall of sound techniques, dream pop is one specific variation of this wall of sound/distortion+echo+chorus formula defined by the mellowness and the simplicity of it
