This is my personal experience, so far every time I've driven through the South the people are usually pretty friendly. Granted I'm usually just passing through these states so I haven't had prolonged interaction. Little Rock seemed like a shithole though.

Then again I tend to ease myself into a lot of social situations (no idea how, I'm introverted as fuck) and had some pretty interesting talks with socialists, klansmen, fascists (I mean this unironically, the guy wanted an authoritarian government with card-carrying party members), commies, and everything in between. As someone who's lived in both VA and CT (NYC metro area) and has been to every US state but Alaska, from experience I would say sort of. It depends on who you meet and how you act but I'd say that people in areas like Texas and Georgia try to go the extra mile, especially in service, but they're assholes everywhere and people in New England and the Midwest can be just as nice. Also I wouldn't consider WV the south, I feels like it has a lot more in common with Pennsylvania and Ohio then states like Tennessee and the Carolinas

The only good thing my brother would tell me about when he would drive through WV was that it was beautiful due to the mountains and hills, but said that the actual towns and cities looked depressing as hell when he drove through. Ironic thing is he currently lives in Ohio so Im guessing its only a major step up.

I have family in Tennessee and they told me most people was extremely nice and helpful when they arrived and now they're friends with most of their neighbors, so I don't think it's just a meme.

On my campus actually. Was talking randomly with some guys in a polysci class and one guy started dropping subtle Jow Forums references. Got to talking with him over beers and it turns out he browses Jow Forums quite often. He straight up admitted to wanting a one-party authoritarian state with card-carrying party members. Also met another Jow Forumsack at my part time job on campus, who for some reason seemed to think that because I also browse the Chans that I was a more valuable employee, that I had the "Jow Forums work ethic". I have no idea what he was talking about. Anyhow they're free to their beliefs, however I found it a bit funny that neither of these two appear to be well-armed and they don't prep. Might be the Jow Forumsommando in me sperging.

I can't speak for all southerners, but my family practiced it. We'd invite arrangers into our house for tea and snacks when they asked for directions or whatever.

Southerners are nice in my experience. Northerners can be intensely rude and bitchy, and I say that as a Massachusetts resident. So many faggots here have a chip on their shoulder. Honestly if Texas somehow had cold and snow I would've moved there already.
