I'll never understand how they just left everything to decay
gas station in ussr (wonewhere in ukraine i think)
No maintenance
Pollution city
Radioactive lake
Looks comfy
Why did people not put any effort into making commieblocks look nice?
View from my work. I took it today.
Looks like Poland in 1990s.
> In 1968, following a drought in the region, the wind carried 185 PBq (5 MCi) of radioactive dust away from the dried area of the lake, irradiating half a million people.
I always find the stories from the USSR both horrifying and hilarious in some twisted sense.
muh city
Shop with a furniture, I guess?
Very bleak. What is your job?
Poland in 2019 looks like Poland in 1990s too t bh.
It's quite impressive just how little they cared about safety and human lives.
>pic
But Japan was doing the same, in 21 century.
The Soviets were more aesthetic about it though. Fukushima wasn't as bad as was caused by a national disaster, not slavic incompetence.
How do you get them when they are hanging up? Some kind of auto lower function?
Reminds me of a rust belt city. Which might be the way for people to understand and . Well, it's not the same reason why Detroit et al went to shit. Russia doesn't have nogs. But it's understandable.
Say what you want about the commieblocs, but I would love to have so many trees in urban area here.
Yes.
Document screener for currency control. I work in a back-office of Russian Citibank, they rent two floors in this furniture center.
That's a suburb tho
A lack of competition probably. Commercial apartments, and commercial products in general have to look nice to get the attention of consumers.
Same view in summer.
I guess. but when i was in Poland almost all commieblocs had lawn and trees between them. It was quite nice during the summer.
So build a non earthquake proof nuclear powerplant on such lands was not incompetence? I mean they used the human forces literally the same way as half of century ago.
How the hell did they even go to space? I understand they stole technologies from us but still. Amazing.
So you think commieblocks are nice just because there are trees around them? There are trees around your houses, and around our houses. Why do you think those trees are so special? Unless you live in a concrete jungle of course.
Well, back in the day they thought it looks good and is super modern.
Russians are orcs, Japanese and Finns are elves speaking moonrunes, dumb Slav.
>I understand they stole technologies from us
Same as you did, they stole technologies from Germans.
>Unless you live in a concrete jungle of course.
Most cities in the US are exactly like that, user.
Based boring admin job
Exactly like what? My pic, or a concrete jungle devoid of trees?
There's a part of me that would like to see a return of glorious brutalism, as long as it's in a place where it's not ruining the aesthetic of other buildings.
yes
We concrete everything we can within the city limits.
Eh, which one? Former or latter?
sorry, i am not that user, i was just bored and couldn't resist it :D
>How do you get them when they are hanging up? Some kind of auto lower function?
Probably just hangs there
They did.
They didnt put any effort into maintaining them
Well, what about portland
You demon.
>auto lower function?
oh no no soviet robotics in the russian weather.
what can possibly go wrong keke
>Commieblock archtitects were following the avantagarde of modernism..., pic related one the very famous Le Corbusier buildings.
no, look at the ones on the left
ah i think you can see there is a string attached to them that you can pull. wicked
This is why I'm always on the edge with the decision to move out of the country for good, in summer everything is kino as fuck but the winters man
0/10
Did you even try?
Pic related from Vienna. This was what commieblock architects (at least in Yugoslavia) were trying to achive. The idea was basically proving that communism/socialism could provide same modern or even better living conditions for its citizens than capitalistm can.
>Well, what about portland
I did not say all of them.
There are some picturesque towns on Eastern Coast for example.
But in general trees are confined to parks. Makes sense from the maintenance point of o view, I guess, roots can be a real pain in the ass, but i like the European combinaton of architecture and greenery.
>putting effort in your commieblocks
You were doing it wrong
But damn, it looks awesome
This is nice.
Instead of proving that they can achive the same living standard the capitalists can, the yu-architects proved that they can build better commieblocks than Romanians or Mongolians :3
>Drive in to get fuel
>Your shitty Lada has its windscreen broken by a fuel pump just hanging around
Amazing
Well, it's Vienna. Our modernism looks like this in comparison.
Oslo is the least green city we have.
at typical lada speeds this is not an issue
Probably has the operator push a button after you pay or something. Maybe automatic. Would take a small motor and a few relays to implement, not too complicated.
Heh, they all look the same up close.
This one is a big guy
I like this a lot.
But THIS is the aesthetic I'm looking for
now this is communism I can support
All pics besides the Corbusier and the Vienna ones are indeed one and the same building, called Super Andrija.
It isn't communism, though.
house of dead
>Oslo is the least green city we have.
And yet I see a lot of parks and trees.
It looks like a factory, and not a living place.
Very marxist, I guess.
How did/do Russians manage to keep going in the face of such misery?
yeah I know I wish it was tho, but, it is very essence of communism to create depressing and uncreative things so even if it was built by commies it would be deemed as uncommunistic. Or something.
found it, it is still there amazingly
it`was elite living house where 90% tenants were murdered during Great purge.
>you will never live through the USSR's most prestigious years
oh look another one, but this one is more like a museum.
damn 60s cars are cool as fuck
>That one guy that came from wrong direction
this pic reminds me of the CoD:MW for some reason
>How the hell did they even go to space?
Why couldn't they make cars like that? It is so unpatriotic and embarrassing for a commie to pose in front of this marvel of capitalism. But I have to admit the commies loved France because France has always been the most pro-commie cunt in the western world.
Soviet poverty aesthetics beat Capitalist poverty aesthetics anytime
guality of fotocameras and photo film in 60s was also much better than modern. Such bright colours. I still love to watch 60s Soviet classics because of brigt natural colours
The photo was taken by a Pole, to add irony
it's not a soviet car per-se but it's a socialist car none the less
East-German Melkus RS 1000
you stole tecnologies from us. grid fins used in SpaceX are ours. And little German.
en.wikipedia.org
oh really? you are talking about people?
have you seen anything more disgusting than this?
yeah looks like a typical soviet car
>Gagarin died in 1968
>Melkus RS 1000 was produced from 1969
Did he got a prototype?
that's a shopped pic
oh sorry you said east german
yeah a typical east german car
