Those nasty, foul-smelling balls that form in your tonsils
If you don't think you get them you are almost certainly wrong. Do this quick test: get a q-tip and press it firmly against one of your tonsils.
If whitish, yellow gunk pops out then you produce tonsil stones. The only solution to this problem is having your tonsils removed.
Let's talk about the fact we all get tonsil stones
>The only solution to this problem is having your tonsils removed.
You're tonsils should only ever be removed in the case that they swell regularly. If you have tonsil stones they're just doing their job as part of the lymphatic system.
>tfw no tonsils
Lol
>we all get stones
No we dont, you have poor oral hygeine. Typical foul mouthed poorthener
Having your tonsils removed is worse than circumcision
>there are "people" on Jow Forums RIGHT NOW who had their tonsils removed
I just had my tonsils removed last year, because they suddenly started producing stones by the wholesale.
dont you guys have dentists and mouth wash over in that island
I have great dental hygiene. I brush three or four times a day, 3-4 minutes each time and flossing each time.
I eat a healthily too.
Everybody's tonsils have holes (crypts) in them which fill up with the bacteria we all have in our mouths and form stones.
If you don't believe you have stones, try the test in the OP. You'll probably be surprised with what you find.
This.
I'm getting mine removed because they only make me sick.
By the way, careful to not hurt your tonsils sticking your finger in them or infect them with dirty hands.
If you have so many tonsil stones that you get bad breath and/or they hurt you, then you should probably visit a doctor.
People with healthy tonsils usually end up swallowing their stones, 'cause they're very small.
My tonsils have been checked and there is nothing anatomically wrong with them. They never get enlarged or swollen, but like all tonsils, they have these little inbuilt holes in them where stones form.
I clean them out every 2-3 days. The stones are relatively small. If I didn't clean them for a long time I'd get bigger stones and develop bad breath.
>People with healthy tonsils usually end up swallowing their stones
The point of this thread is to highlight the fact that we ALL get them. If you wait till they get grow big enough that they pop out on their own, you should be cleaning them out more.
If you don't believe you get them, do the test in the OP. You'll soon see you get them, too.
I don't know why evolution hasn't sorted this out yet.
I dare you guys who are skeptical to do the test. You just need a q-tip. Press on those tonsils and see what comes out from inside the holes.
I used to pick them as often as you do. When I stopped doing it, I got way less.
I mean, it's not healthy shoving your finger there. If it bugs you so much, take'em off.
Some people's tonsils don't have this problem accumulating so many stones, so no one really cares.
I do get a few sometimes, but when they grow big enough, I take them out.
By the way, my aunt doesn't have tonsils and she has problems with esophagus infection because of that (when she had tonsils, that didn't happen).
so everybody has bad breath?
Not me, I use colgate total 12, 12h de proteção. 9 em 10 dentistas recomendam. 3 vezes ao dia.
>I do get a few sometimes, but when they grow big enough, I take them out.
You may not realise it, but all the time that your stones are there in your tonsils growing bigger, you will have bad breathe to anyone that comes close to you.
Brushing your teeth and using mouthwash will only mask the odor slightly.
Sulphuric balls festering on each side of your throat will give you horrible breath. Get in the habit of checking your tonsils every 2-3 days. That's all the time they take to start forming.
The answer is YES - unless you had your tonsils removed.
These demon balls lurk behind every tonsil. And since everyone is born with tonsils...
Dude, there's shit inside of you right now. Even if you shit them out, they'll keep growing in there, from small pieces.
For real now, I understand you, but that's normal. Small stones won't have a really great impact on your breath. Unfortunately, tonsils still act as a barrier for bad stuff coming into your system. Having some stones is not a good reason to cut them off.
You seem a little obsessed...
can you give any source to your claims?
I'm actually interested
Sometimes I forget to clean them and after like a week I start tasting a metallic taste in my mouth. I know it's a sign telling me that they're growing in my tonsils.
If I didn't remove them for like 6 months they would be absolutely huge. When I first find out about them years ago I removed like 20 massive, foul smelling ones. I was almost crying with shock.
I just hate the fact I have to keep havin poking my tonsils every 2 days to clean this disgusting shit. I could accidentally drop the q-tip in my throat and choke to death (using fingers is nasty and I gag more).
I want to prove that everyone (whow has tonsils) gets tonsil stones. It seems that a lot of people are in denial saying they never got them, or aren't even aware they have them.
We need to raise awareness to the true cause of bad breath and start championing tonsillectomies.
Sir do you happen to have an autistic disorder?
Do you have OCD?
Not judging, just asking.
I dont have any sources but it seems logical to me. Everybody is born with cryptic tonsils, the perfect environment for stones to grow in. And everybody has millions of bacteria in their mouths. You combine both of these to get tonsil stones.
I just want one person who had never heard about tonsils stones before now to check their tonsils with a q-tip. Try not to be to shocked and please, whatever you do don't smell them.
It's pretty obvious he does, that or he's just really, REALLY into tonsil hygiene.
Yes I have diagnosed ocd. I focus on bodily stuff like this regularly.
I can't even reach my tonsils, I can't see my throat because my tongue is so high, otherwise I would do the test
This guy just has shit breath and completely misunderstands the role of tonsils
t. Doctor
Have you checked your tonsils with a cotton bud mate?
I think we should all be cleaning our tonsils every 48 hours at least. New stones form in that amount of time.
I can't stand the thought of sulphuric shite balls growing inside my mouth.
It's so gross and unnatural, truly and evolutionary flaw.
I have a bit of slimy, yellow stuff. I remove it a tongue cleaner. (You can't use every tongue cleaner, some of them are too pointy.) According to a doctor I should just leave everything alone (including my tongue) but I don't want that slimy stuff.
I know the supposed role of tonsils but they aren't even needed in adulthood and it's arguable whether they're even need in childhood. People get by without them just fine.
But really, I just don't understand why tonsils haven't evolved to stay clean... I mean they're inside the mouth of all places. Having bacteria and bad smells can cause dental and social problems.
You'd have thought that with evolution, the little holes that trap bacteria could have been done away with.
I'm lucky in the sense that I have quite a wide mouth and my tongue stays flat, so I can access them with relative ease. I've also perfected my technique so the stones come out easily.
Yet I still worry about accidentally dropping the q-tip and it getting lodged in my throat. I can't just leave the stones in their though.
I would get a tonsillectomy but it's meant to be unbelievably painful.
Partial laser tonsillectomy is another, possibly less painful option I'm looking into.
I finally got my tonsils removed after 8 years of picking tonsils stones out every night. Feels good.
Even though I last cleaned my tonsils less than 48 hours ago, I'm going to go and poke them now with a q-tip.
My guess is that a little bit of clear fluid will come out from inside hole. I call this stuff "pre tonsil stone fluid" when it hasn't solidified into a ball yet.
i thought i din't get them but the other day i was washing my mouth and felt something in my throat and when i spat it out it was two white balls
it was very disgusting desu
but my mouth felt better after
That was a brave decision.
Did you go for a traditional cold steel ablation under general anesthestic, or one of those newfangled "lunchtime" laser treatments that don't remove the whole tonsils but instead laser the surface?
Ablation under anesthetic. I lost 12 pounds while recovering, but it was worth it.
It feels a lot better when they're out.
Just keep cleaning them out regularly from now on. Before when I didn't really clean them, I used to get terrible earache. I've read this is caused by tonsil stones pushing against the ear canal.
how do i clean them out? just with a qtip?
I start with the q-tip at the bottom of the tonsil then applying pressure I push it up to the top of the tonsil. This forces the debris/tonsil stones to come out of the opening. Then using the same or another q-tip, I pick out the stones.
If tiny pieces remain I remove the cotton from the q-tip and using just the plastic tip I can get those last pieces out.
Some people use waterpiks but I find that too much of a hassle and messy as well as hit and miss.
I'm not sure if you should clean it because you might damage the tissue.
I guess the plastic tip is sharp and you shouldn't use it.
Maybe it's not evolution. I have slimy, yellow stuff mostly on one side. I also have had post nasal drip on that side for quite some time but I didn't have post nasal drip for most of my life.
Removing tonsil stones with a q-tip is easy. Just follow these three simple steps.
I don't scrape the tonsil surface with the bare plastic tip. I just use it at the end to 'pick up' any smaller remnants. Fine work you could call it.
To remove the cotton, just run the tip underneath hot water for 5-10 seconds.
the area in my left tonsil hurts and i got a bitter taste. what does that mean?
A bitter or metallic taste suggests the presence of tonsil stones.
They don't usually cause pain.
Imagine being autistic about tonsil stones of all things
Have you ever considered that the very fact evolution has no interest in removing your tonsils indicates that they are not in any way harmful
I just did a quick clean out and found a tiny 'baby" stone in my right tonsil and some darker, yellow liquid in my left. The left surprised me because I don't usually get much from that one.
It was only 30 hours since my last clean out and already stones were being formed again!
