But if you are going to attribute mediterranean former superiority to geographical determinism, why can't you do the same to explain northern superiority today?
I think your theory is a lazy attempt at explaining it and geographic determinism + demographics and history make much more sense, or maybe a way to make the feat more personal rather than having it caused by external factors to make you look intrinsically better

On this part specifically, I'd say nutrition around the world has changed massively over the past century or so, anything before is basically imcomparable.
Back in the middle-ages (and before) though, the peoples that had higher levels of meat in their diets (so Euros with animal husbandry) would have definietly had a developmental advantage over those that didn't..

i'm sharing my blogspot, i'm from lorraine, my grand grand mother who were born german in early 1900's, she lost both her parents and brothers, only remained her little sister after the first world war ended
then she struggled to learn french and acclimate in her new life.
When ww2 happend, she literally took a bike and had a ride for days until she reached Toulouse starving and exhausted.
She stayed there until the war ended, her husband was a war prisoner and lost a leg during battles, the family house, the only thing remaining of her parents was destroyed and of course she never received any compensation.
My grand grand mother always had hatred for the germans even tho we're ethnically german in my family, we can't figure oui the traumistism of the people who happend to know both world wars on field, this is why when i see american kids sharing nazi memes i cringe everytime since they don't realized what it really means.
