With renewed calls for a standing EU army in the last few days by Germany's next Chancellor, it looks like the creation of a sovereign EU superstate in the coming decades is inevitable. What's Jow Forums's opinion on this?
EU superstate
I don’t like it but looks like that’s the only solution to stay relevant in the presence of other superpowers (US, China, Russia, maybe India someday). Otherwise the whole Europe’s gonna become a periphery to the world -- similar to how the Balkan has been a periphery to the West/Central Europe.
YOU ARE UNDER ARREST CHANCELLOR!
i'd rather die
We need it as soon as possible so we can prevent another Brexit from happening.
We probably can't stop the Brits with it anymore since they have nuclear weapons but it should be more than enough to keep rebellious countries like Greece or Poland down.
If another exit from the Union seems likely it would be good to arrange death squads within the EU army to take out troublemakers such as Korwin or whatever Farage-equivalent comes up in EU member states and use the army to squash any protest that might come from the population at large.
It's obvious to anyone with a brain that the EU works for the common good but if populists arise with the goal of destroying the prosperity in Europe that was built in the last 70 years they need to be taken care of if necessary by force.
I support union on the ideals of bolstering each member and ensuring good ideals, however I oppose the political unification via further centrilisation, and as such, unfortunately support brexit on this basis.
If the rest of the continent wants different then best of luck to them but I don't see it satisfying particularly anyone apart from those which stand at the centre of such a political institution. I just don't see it ending particularly well, especially with who often appears to have a hand on the steering of the ship.
But is it necessary when NATO exists? My main worry is that one of the states in this hypothetical federation would grow to eclipse all the others in power and influence, I think you know which one I'm talking about.

If EU doesn’t orientate itself to become a more independent entity, the US is just going to continue interfering in our politics and economy. There are already numerous rumours that US helped destabilise EU economically and demographically by invaded Libya and helping ISIS indirectly. (I’m not an expert and these may be more than rumours.. idk). The US wants to stay Nr. 1.
NATO, if it evolves in the direction Trump envisaged, would be a good start towards a safer (European) future. Geopolitically, countries/continents with weak armies are a liability.
What worries me most is the Balkans. The past 20 years have been relatively quiet, but there’s still high potential for conflict. The so called "green transversal" of predominantly muslim and heterogeneous population stretching from Bosnia across Sanjak and Kosovo into Western Macedonia is particularly worrying, especially with the growing Albanian population
are people there still nationalistic enough to fight? i thought they had contained it to youtube comments
It wouldn't be an issue if NATO hadn't intervened. Croatia and Serbia would've fought over and split up B&H. Kosovo wouldn't exist and Albanians wouldn't be an issue
NATO basically stopped natural selection and expect it to not happen again down the line. Except now they've been armed by the west
Kosovo and Macedonia are the biggest problems imo.
The after-math of the war in Kosovo (and economic crisis in Albania which happened a few years before that) was the crisis urbanisation of Kosovo. Prishtina doubled the population to the point that you now have rural-looking slums stretching in every direction. What’s worse is, they didn’t populate the Drenica hills or Kopaonik, or any other slightly elevated land; they urbanised (and are still doing it) the Kosovo Field -- which is one of the biggest aquifers in Europe, not to mention there’s a lot of lignite there and prime arable land. If you urbanise a land like that, it’s like committing an economic (and ecologic) suicide.
Macedonia’s problem lies in the western part where Albanians (and assimilated Turks) have established an area economically/administratively independent from the government. Albanians also own most of the rural lands in the northern part because Macedonians sold it to them and migrated to Skopje.
>Standing EU army
>A possibility
> Russia
> maybe India someday
You know, actual people work in the army. So the end result is your despotic kind getting hoisted and freedom once again prevailing.
Albanians are fanatically pro-European, so their growing influence is not a threat to European interests, it's actually the contrary. The three biggest questions to European integration in the Balkans were neutered as of last week with Macedonia applying for NATO membership, Montenegro joining NATO, and the other one was solved 20 years ago when an international coalition took care of Serbia's criminal regime.
The real problem is how much the EU has neglected the Balkans and non-Western European states in general. Who do Albanians, Poles, Italians, Romanians etc consider their best allies and friends? Is it other Europeans? Nope, it's Americans. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it shows the monumental failure of the EU in promoting pro-Europeanism. The EU has been ignoring the Balkans for over a decade now, giving them a bone every few years and then playing cold shoulder. Are these countries ready to join the EU? Nope, but they haven't been supported properly in improving their economies, corruption, rule of law, etc. People get disillusioned and look either inwards, towards more nationalistic tendencies, or making deals with unsavory characters (Saudi, Turkey, China, Iran, or other regimes) simply because Europe has ignored them.
Europeans should make a choice. Is the Balkans European or isn't it? If it is, get serious and offer real support and guidance. If it isn't, stop dragging them along with decade long empty promises and let them choose their own fates.
I want money and sex. And fix the nerve pinch in my shoulder that I have been having for days. Fuck politics. I literally worked in a senators office when young, it’s a complete farce.
what a gay flag
Europe is already fracturing with France and Germany getting dabbed on by Italy, UK, Poland, Hungary, etc. Going full retard with a superstate and military is going to be a disaster. But Germany just can't fucking help themselves from ruining Europe time and time again
Is it really a bad thing if Germany's influence increases?
>simply because Europe has ignored them
That's because there is no such thing as Europe, no matter how hard the few eurocrats in Brussels wish it to be
Best of both worlds you dying and EU superstate forming.
>you will one day see europe split by war and economic sabotage so badly that you won't be able to talk to your european buddies online anymore, just like ukraine
>i want to be an american vassal
world's been globalized kid. you have to pick a side :
>EU
>USA
>China
>Russia
I completely support the creation of a European army.
