Everything the US has been doing for 70 years was for the sole purpose of undermining Russians and keeping the petrodollar. Another important fact, Venezuela let Russians put military base with nuclear bombers few years ago, you bet your ass that wouldn't fly with US (heh).
That's why Americans invested so much into fracking and making Saudis dump oil prices. They lost incredible amount of money because of that and thousands of Americans will die prematurely due to contaminated water supply.
But there are several "side" effects - Venezuela collapses and Russia goes into recession.You bet your ass whoever wins elections in Venezuela, the first thing they will do will be selling oil rigs to BP or Exxon.
The Russians lose their only ally in South America and even bigger portion of world's oil is in American control, greatly improving their "price negotiation"/blackmail capabilities.
I strongly suspect EU banning gasoline cars by 2030 or whatever the plan is isn't just hippy environmentalism. Same goes for China massively investing into Africa. They aren't there improve African lives. They are in for that sweet Angolan Oil and their official ideology/propaganda (fuck whitey and fuck imperialism) sounds great to the Africans and helps to grease the way to it. They like to build them things like African Assembly building for "free", out of "good will".

Russia is a non-issue for the USA since 1990. Period 1990-2019 is Russia undermining itself by incompetence of its leadership and pushing the world on the edge of World War 3.
