DJT is a Japanese language 勉強スレ for anyone interested in the language, anime, manga, visual novels, light novels and Japanese video games. Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.
Whats the difference between ano, ano ne, and ano sa
Austin Cook
How often do the Japanese use 波蘭 or 波 instead of ポーランド?
Ayden Rodriguez
Where's a good place to go to check actually skilled translators to proof read translations I do for doujin and manga?
Bentley James
If you need someone to make sure you got the meaning right, you're not anywhere near qualified to do translation. Get a job and pay someone else to do it. If you need someone to fix your writing, find an editor.
Owen Green

It's always good to have someone good double check your work. Quality checking is a standard process in all real companies.
>そろそろ近い does this mean "getting close" in the sense as "approaching close proximity to something"?
Lucas Sanders
>Reading trough comments on a jltp 5 youtube video about the 80 kanjis you have to know >One comments says they have been studying japanese for 3 three years yet they can barely recognize any >A reply say the are in the same situation 3 years of studying and they cant recognize a single one
How is this possible? Did they just use kana or romaji all along or are they fucking retarded or they study once every 6 months and just go around saying to people that they study Japanese just for possible status they could get?
"I'll hold Ashia's hand tightly. Haven't we spoken normally every day? (really not sure about this part) I'm okay with that. We've already spoken as friends"
Its my guess. I should state clearly that my help isn't correct
Christian Richardson
We've been able to talk to each other normally all day, haven't we? And that's enough. We've already been speaking together as friends.

What is 今日一日? Nothing comes up in Jisho.
Elijah Young
Also because of the emphasis on 友達として and after trying to guess what the context might be, I think a good translation for the last line would be "we've been speaking to each other as friends this entire time."
Dylan Gray
I WAS wanting to learn German but it's a useless tongue going extinct and the krauts here are pricks.

pretty shit, i'm not happy with playing around and rewriting everything when there's a viable equivalent in english like on p.9 (also have some seeds of doubt as to whether this was even intentional, you do know what 人のこと言えない means right?)
recheck そんなのはごめんよ on p.21, it doesn't mean "i'm sorry"
p.23, 24 are fucked, learn japanese
definitely not qualified to translate, but if you get a reddit proofreader who knows a little bit about fixing up goofy dialogue then i you are set to be a top of the totem pole fanslator since the bar for that is unimaginably low lol
Thomas Long
>小さな女の子をいじめるのは見てらんねえだろ? >で、思わずひとりやっつけちまったら、追われ追われてどこまでも、ってな。 I couldn't stand seeing the sight of a girl getting treated like that. So I ended up killing all of them without thinking, and now we've been pursued ever since. Is this the right interpretation here?
Angel Edwards
One of them (ひとり), not all of them.
Jack Thomas
>recheck そんなのはごめんよ on p.21, it doesn't mean "i'm sorry" lol did he really put that as 'sorry'. it looks more like 'fuck that noise' to me
quite similar i believe, 'ano' could be both 'that', 'uuh' and 'excuse me' 'anone' sounds slightly cuter, or that you're trying to catch somebody's attention 'anosa' would express a slight bit of impatience
Isaiah Diaz
Depends on intonation, if you say あのね like あのさ then it's the same thing.
So then in Japanese everything that has spice means salty?
Logan Campbell
I should've been more clear. A "spice" in this sense is anything added to a food item that gives extra flavour or taste. (Salt is a spice in the same way that a tomato is a vegetable.)
The word for "salty" as in "tastes like salt" is 塩辛い, hence the 辛い.
You could see spicy in this context as "anything not sweet", anything that "stings".

>Using literally wrong even in Japanese Pottery
Joshua Johnson
I know exactly what I'm saying. You don't know until you've lived here.
They're probably using the "10000 hours of eng subbed anime" method
Cameron Baker
you only use literally to explain something normally understood figuratively I have a shit job is not understood as your waste treatment job until you clarify >inb4 its just emphasis if you're a 14 year old girl that is also using it wrong, sure
Brayden Sullivan
ur dumb, "shit" is a stupid example, it's not figurative if you want the word "literally" to mean something instead of being a dead weight it's got to be in a sentence like "he literally went underground to do X" it's been acceptable to use it as "without falsehood or exaggeration" since forever ago too, so even "a literal hell on earth" is "correct" usage, it's just arguable whether the word "literal" is doing anything interesting in that sentence it's about on the same level as actual/actually japanese version prob has way less people who care about it being used this way
John Perez
>it's been acceptable to use it as "without falsehood or exaggeration" if you say so :^)
