Skyfleet, look at this beautiful DIY Skyminer gallery just has been released imgur.com/gallery/jZyB8vT
Personally, I think the DIY Skyminer looks more exciting, but can someone let me know what is the difference between the DIY and the original? Who went for what - DIY or original?
the price! official is a way to fund the project, giveaway 1 btc and diy is helping in developing the backbone at a lower cost

One thing I don't understand. Why mini PCs like raspberry pis? What advantage do they offer over normal PCs when it comes to skycoins?

this is a dedicated machine that will likely be on 24/7. im assuming keeping it simple and specialized makes sense. probably cheaper to wear out a DIY skyminer than a PC. especially when you can get a raspberry for like $10-$20.

1 computer = 1 node Surely a smart phone would use less power and there are most likely much more of them. Also the communications antenna's could be re-purposed to create a satellite network independent of ISP's?

What I like about the DIY is exactly this idea of DIY, you get more involved into the whole process. It is fun to research and build yourself the miner.

>1 computer = 1 node But how does it work? Does 1 node get the same reward regardless of how much computing power it has? And what's stopping you from just running the software multiple times on a single more powerful machine?

I went for the original, did not had time to put it together myself, and also I think it has a very nice design.

I don’t know what to say. I used Orange PIs, seem to be more fussy about the power from what I've seen I plugged one into a 1A USB power adapter early on and couldn’t get it to boot…
