DJT is a Japanese language 勉強スレ for anyone interested in the language, anime, manga, visual novels, light novels and Japanese video games. Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.
I still respect the guy for at least translating something. I'd probably give up 5 panels in mulling over whether I fucked up a certain line, or how readable it is in English.
Kevin Gutierrez
Other than the cornucopia (what I'm looking for isn't there) where do you find raw LN? It's not on madokami either. Already tried searching the title in japanese + ".pdf" and got only the manga. (I don't know who would put manga in pdf format but they should be shot.) Is there some sort of dedicated site for raw LN, senmanga but for LN?
Jose Carter
I don't. I feel like that kind of shit is actively malicious, the translator is delivering something that they, better than anyone else, know is not up to par. It's a disservice to both the author and the audience who wants to read the story. Avoiding bad fan translations is one of the reasons I learned the language. >mulling over whether I fucked up a certain line One of the requirements before you can even think of translating is that you understand the original. In this case especially, not doing anything would have been better than doing a rough job. If he really wanted it translated he could have earned some money and paid somebody who at least knows Japanese to do it.
Translators make mistakes at all levels, this isn't a unique case. I'd say very, very few non-natives are actually competent with the language; and they're certainly not going to be translating doujins for shit commission. I don't see an issue in someone looking for criticism- if that's what he was doing -nor do I think he should be barred from translating something if his understanding may not be perfect. There's always room for improvement for any translator, amateur or professional .
Landon Diaz
Yeah, but you don't know Japanese yourself. You just shitpost in these threads.
Ethan Gonzalez
a bit early when someone's still using the "guess" approach to Japanese grammar though
also lol'd at inserting -san when it's not even in the original
Hahaha, you're still proxy posting and you're still super fucking ass hurt. Wow.
Henry Evans
So, you got blown the fuck out super hard, people caught you samefagging and proxy posting. So now you're going to be obsessed with shitposting and trying to damage control from now until the end of time in these threads.
Impressive.
Parker Rogers
This guy's bad, like real bad. I'm a prophet from /jp/ who came here to shit on you and force you to make a funny tantrum.
Evan Anderson
These two posts are by the same person.
And you are a shitposter who's always in these threads just looking for things to argue about. It's really obvious who you are, because it's not normal to find someone stupid enough to try and lie over the internet and give their word as proof.
Henry Green
Oh no, look at my flag, oh no, you're a failure. That translation is actually spot on. You clearly come to these threads just to try and troll and be obtuse. Which is retarded, because you gain literally nothing from that.
Ahah, you are ass hurt as fuck. And see You are the one having a literal autistic tantrum.
Luis Stewart
I am like 75% sure this is just some loser doing an impression of an autist and not even the original guy
Ayden Mitchell
I'm going to sleep Looking forward to read your autism-off with my morning coffee
Nathan Young
You're the only one with autism here. There was no "original guy" either way. You just blatantly samefagged and proxy posted, so you got mocked for it.
Connor Ross
Alternatively it's the same guy and he's trying to goad people into pointing all of his mistakes. You can just ask for help son, this isn't /jp/
Ayden King
Why are you replying to yourself?
I honestly can't believe you got this upset and asshurt over something so trivial. You're actually trying to save face over and anonymous image board.
You're not the first person to be caught samefagging, you won't be the last.
Nathaniel Gomez
Noted 玉虫色 down yesterday before going to bed but I totally forget what the context was. No I can't add it to anki because I cannot map an memory to this card
Josiah Hernandez
You don't need a context for that, just look up タマムシ
Mason Hall
I think it was used to describe something so I don't think the insect thing does it for me.
Adrian Turner
You can describe something with it to say it has iridescent properties, just like the bug. This is a tamamushi. Tamamushi color = iridescent.
I don't know who's arguing with who about what, but that translation does have mistakes in it.
>もう私しかあの子を思い出してあげられないのに Now there's no one left but me who even still remembers her... >リニと居ると楽しくてあなたで一杯になる・・・ But when I'm with you, it's so much fun that there's no more room in my head for anyone else.
I also remember helping someone once who asked a translation question in DJT about what I believe was this same manga. He only posted one page but it had two girls in a cave just like this.
Ryder Thomas
...
Gabriel Green
I'll go with this for now. Maybe I'll re-encounter this one in the wild some time.
Cameron Davis
I don't know who you think you're fooling by saying "who's arguing with who" because everyone knows you're the proxy poster who samefags.
Bentley Price
>dropping the name and replacing it with "you" Sign of a truly shit translator. And that's leaving aside how everything else you said is wrong, too.
Hunter Morris
I'm confused. I'm not even part of this, all I saw was two Americans arguing in the last thread and decided to chime in. I thought the person asking for criticism was treated like shit, even if he had a hissy fit afterwards.
>I thought the person asking for criticism was treated like shit wow, people were rude on Jow Forums? ・ω・
Colton Gutierrez
You can't honestly be stupid enough to think that screen shot proves anything. No one through a "hissy fit" you samefaged and proxy posted while trying to "troll". So you got shit on. Got caught. And now you're in melt down damage control mode.
Brody Jenkins
The last panel is also like "Just when I thought it was only me because you didn't immediately reply..." (the speaker confessed on the previous page)
Henry Scott
Feel free to stop replying to your own post. No one thinks you're a new person just because you used a proxy to post.
Dylan White
This kind of bully mentality is the exact reason why /jp/ is practically dead as far as language discussion goes. I'm literally some random faggot that occasionally asks questions from VNs and games here.
Justin Parker
>I'm literally some random Hahah, how you are so fucking retarded. Seriously, stop saying things like this. You realize people can instantly tell you're lying right? Because you can't prove anything about who you are, so it's literally pointless to say. Everyone knows better than to try and do this.
Bentley Wright
normal person method of arguing: >tell someone they're wrong >point out exactly what part of what they said is wrong >explain why it's wrong >offer what you believe to be the correct answer instead, with supporting evidence if available
dickhead neanderthal way of arguing: >tell someone they're wrong >call them stupid
David Hill
/jp/ became jamals personal shitposting thread a year ago m8. hes too dumb to even use a trip properly and STILL doesn't know japanese
Jayden Allen
i'd only make it past the second step if the dude paid me
Cameron Howard
You can't prove that I'm the guy you're talking about either. This is a waste of time, feel free to believe what you want.
Christopher Sullivan
>the absolute state of these last 2 threads >pretending /jp/ is any worse
It's actually really easy to prove you're the other guy. It's not normal and is extremely uncommon to try and lie over the internet and present your word as "proof" in an argument. You've done it many times so far in just the past two threads. There is zero percent chance of multiple people who act like this showing up all at the same time.
Elijah Martin
It is noticeably worse. Both threads need to die, DJT is no longer helpful to anyone. Whoever remakes is just wasting everyones time
Ayden Morris
i don't think it's even physically possible for something to be "noticeably worse" than this thread
Jonathan Campbell
I'm not even in the position to rate the recent threads so even if they were bad like you say: The information in the op is too valuable to lurkers to let djt just die like that. Don't only think about us posters but the people who lurk as well.
Elijah Butler
>not helpful to anyone I've gotten a lot of useful help from people both here and in the Japanese thread over the past year. That's simply not true.
Nathaniel Cruz
>couple years back started studying >few hours a day >spent months at it >could understand p much half of everything said in jdramas >suddenly Jow Forums https site blocked >no more djt >no more motivation >forgot basically everything except kana and how to say 生理 >come back >4channel is a thing >time to reset my anki deck sadfrog.jpg

>Iranian authorities block websites and other content on the web to enforce the law and to suppress dissent. While Iran officially does not practice sharia law, multiple aspects of sharia law are observed in the legal system. Speech that is considered to be blasphemous, vulgar, or pornographic are censored from the web. Art, politics, and news websites were also heavily censored. Most western social media sites are blocked. >Both Iranian internet service providers and government authorities are responsible for maintaining the content filtering mechanisms that scrub, throttle, and block Iran’s internet. WTF. My condolences user. (I would move out ASAP if I were in your shoes)
you should learn a little bit of stroke order, google will recognize even shitty scribbles as long as the stroke pattern is somewhat right
Noah Cook
そうですか。教えてくれてどうもありがとう。

だれもはいってなくてもこだもがかえる even if no one is not entering an echo returns
Angel Rodriguez
こだま*
Xavier Lee
>その光景は、彼から現実感を奪うのに充分だった。 >まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き……。 >まばたきを何度繰り返してみても、その奇妙な光景が消えることはなかった。 Does the second and third line essentially mean "He kept rubbing and opening his eyes, and even when he blinked repeatedly after that the sight in front of him remained"?
Connor Martin
yes
Nicholas Ross
いったいだれがはいってるんだ? who the hell is this guy entering? ”らっく”をはがすくすりは、これでもないあれでもない peel off the "rock" medicine, this is not it, thats not it..
Jayden Hill
Hi I'm going to redirect to and also repost it
So here's a big question of mine when typing sentences, I'm trying to establish a part one and a part two (I don't know what this is called linguistically because I'm a fucking idiot). Basically a reveal to answering a question.
Specific example: "The section says Japanese because of this post" Whereas "The section says Japanese" comes first and "because of this post" follows it. In my limited understanding of Japanese syntax I would render it like so:
部分が日本語というなぜならこのポスト。
But I don't think this is correct. Is it?
Brody Allen
Is it safe to say that 開いては is omitted before まぶたをこすり? Like 開いてはこすり、こすっては開き?
Jonathan Stewart
It's not necessary. It's just, "He rubbed at his eyes, repeatedly rubbing and then opening them..." It's not a way you can normally say something in English but that's why it's written in Japanese.
Sebastian Miller
Isn't the まぶたをこすり redundant in this case then?
Mason Reed
I'm br. What are my chances of working in Japan? I'm not descendant I wish I could teach English but I heard they don't hire people who aren't native
Asher Clark
I don't know how to answer that. Not everyone talks like a robot who only cares about machine-like efficiency. If you just read it in Japanese and don't try to reroute your understanding through an English translation then it sounds perfectly fine and normal to me.
Justin Ramirez
So essentially you're not able to answer.
Nathan Gomez
what is the "section" ? and if possible, you'd better make a sentence that means same as it in another fashion, so i can understand the meaning .
>部分が日本語というなぜならこのポスト。 you mean something like "this sentence is Japanese because this is written in Japanese" ?
Brody Walker
think they call that a conjunction
Carson Powell
>まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き that is a kind of expression that is sometimes used in story telling or novel or the like, and that express "action/movement repeating". e.g. ドアを閉じては開き、開いては閉じ、、、、、 掴んでは離し、離しては掴み、、、
there is no particular verb to use it. its all about how it sounds. at least to me.
Connor Evans
watashi wa kawai desu
Grayson Foster
I don't really get what you're trying to say to begin with. "The section says Japanese?" Sounds like something that needs a lot of context. You should introduce all that context into your thinking when you trying to come up with a Japanese sentence. Don't just try to swap out each word in the English sentence with a Japanese one.
If I'm picking up on what you're getting at, you want a way to link two clauses with a "because" construction? A good start is maybe a [result]は[cause]が~からです type of structure. Then you've also got other things to worry about like vocabulary (post = レス, "says" in the context of writing = 書いてある or even なっている) and clarity (部分 by itself can't really refer to "the section").
Angel Wood
I guess you are not so good at English as English natives. but you must be definitely superior at Portuguese. that is your advantage. there are probably no such job especially in rural areas; I mean Portuguese teacher. but that could be the chance; it is all up to you. although it would be quite tough to become Portuguese teacher.
Henry Watson
Anyone here willing to do a translation of this mini comic please?
is まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き still connected to まばたきを何度繰り返して. I saw a similar sentence Googling 「大きな眼を瞬きしては目を擦り、擦っては瞬きを繰り返している。」 and was curious. Also, is 開いては implied before the まぶたをこすり?
Jace Martinez
(especially) Yeah, things like that.
Whereas X comes before Y, >"The reason for X is because of Y." >"The reason this section of my page says I speak Japanese is BECAUSE of this post by a specific person."
So ページの欄が日本語と書いて BECAUSE この特定のレス, yes?
The result comes before the reason why the result is so. In my understanding of Japanese you'd have to put the cause before the result which to me seems dysfunctional.
このレスからページの欄は日本語と書いてです or something.
I don't mean to be so vague, I'm sorry. As I said, I'm stupid.
Justin Collins
>A rose pattern, really!? What's he trying to prove!?
>Shut the fuck up!!
>White roses, in the language of flowers... "Purity, and deep respect." Perfect for you, really...
>What!? Are you retarded1? Put your fucking phone away!!
>Quit reading into every little thing, you piece of shit!!
>Opff! -felia!
>They turned red...
>Red roses, in the language of flowers... "Beauty, and undying affection"...
>is まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き still connected to まばたきを何度繰り返して kind of yes. but the two are different action. when you 瞼をこする , you should close your eye, then こすっては開き . 瞬き is "a (few) blinks of eyes"
So something like; he rubs his eyes then he opens his eyes then .... even after he made some blinks repeatedly ...?
Josiah Thomas
>The reason for X is because of Y. so the concept is some like >"this sentence is Japanese because this is written in Japanese" right? this is in Japanese "この文章は日本語です。何故なら日本語で書かれているから。" or "この文章は日本語で書かれているので日本語です。"
Isaiah Russell
Oh. ありがとうございます。
Cameron Wilson
could you possibly rewrite the sentences in Japanese? your translation is a little confusing.
William Long
ARGHHH chino chan... arghh *sniff* *sniff* SEX chino... FUCK CHINO Arghh I want to envelope chino around me and CONTROL HER ARGHH THE chino... chino CHINO CHAN cute sex
Is there any particular reason you wouldn't just buy a digital version of the light novel from amazon.co.jp? Cause that is by far the most painless thing you can do.
Robert White
>is まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き still connected to まばたきを何度繰り返して 関係あると言えば関係けど、「まぶたをこすり、こすっては開き」と「まばたきを何度繰り返しても」は別の動作。 まぶたを擦る時には目を閉じるでしょ?だからまぶたを擦った後に開いてるの。
