Blog here, but I've wanted to share this guys story.
I buy BTC at 3k, it goes to 4k so I tell my friend about it. He starts buying with fiat.
I learn about alts, start buying alts, get him into alts. (Raiblocks and Ark mostly, he chooses XRP on his own)
Dude buys the dips, gets up to 2 BTC, gets a trezor, I tell him exactly how to protect his coins. During the bull run of Nov-Dec one of our mutual friends gets into BTC and sends some to bitgem.biz cloud mining scam. My friend sends a FULL Bitcoin to the site and can't withdraw it. When I looked at the site, it was clearly a scam.
Dude was devastated, suicidal, etc.
I now know that after BTC hit 10k he started buying on credit card and racked up about 20k of debt, even though I told him to never buy w credit and not invest more than he could lose.
Leaves nano on bitgrail, loses it all after I told him to use raiwallet.
Forgets where he wrote Ark wallet mnemonic seed.
A few days ago, he had $1800 worth of crypto he could access. He tethered everything at $6200 after I told him that I'd never ever fuck with tether near the bottom.
Dude has $1800 worth of tether, $20k credit card debt, not to mention all the fiat he put it.
This is why you don't tell people about crypto. You can ruin their lives. I'm never recommending it to anyone ever again. Even though I never made him click any buttons, I introduced him to crypto and I feel guilty every fucking day. I am down $200k since Jan but still above water and I can't even hang out or talk with my friend without feeling immense guilt and like I ruined his life. If I ever make it, I'm gonna pay off his debts because this guy was my best friend, always there for me and now I just feel like garbage realizing what I introduced him too. This also shows how normies aren't cut out for crypto. FUCK
