100 years ago and it would have been us. 10 random anons who would never get the last 70 years of their life because of an officers honour or a random shell getting lucky.
Im reading the diary of a french soldier and its fucked. There are at least 10 times where he was more likely than not to die but out of random luck didn't. And some kid who got drafted went to the front lines for the first time and within an hour a random bit of shrapnel went right into his heart.
