because it's not a question of working harder. being wealthier is a question of being able to afford more stuff. you can afford more stuff with a bigger salary. you get a bigger salary if your employer can afford to give you a bigger salary. your employer will only be able to give you a bigger salary if he can expand his business and make bigger proftis. he won't be able to expand his business if A. he's a retard (like most businessmen in 3rd world countries are) and B. the government keeps fucking things up (like governments 3rd world governments always do).
basically, it's never up to poor people, but always to the higher classes.

The average german hasn't done jack shit to make his life what it is, he just got lucky to be born in a strain of humanity that has become more successful and lives in a social structure where more success is possible through a comhination of genetic, environmental and geopolitical factors.
As far as the average person is concerned it's basically pure dumb luck. Nobody was in control of any of the macrohistorical processes that led to the current arrangment.

Dependency theory isn't what I was talking about though, I was talking about the fact that neo-liberal capitalism moves production from rich countries to poor countries in order to save money, which means by definition that poor countries make all the shit that rich countries consume.
