>GRAND EST (Greater East)
>REGION SUD (Southern Region)
..A-are we out of imagination to Namecall a Region?
>Haut-de-France (upper France)
>GRAND EST (Greater East)

..A-are we out of imagination to Namecall a Region?
all I see is Catalonia
>Nouvelle Aquitaine
non
>Gascoigne
oui
>Nouvelle Aquitaine
Non!
>Aquitaine
Oui!
The only good thing about the region change is that it reunited Normandie.
It's just a simple way to eradicate local identities
Grand Est could have been named Lotharingia but the inhabitants of the region voted against it
It's just so we don't have names that are too long. Or maybe you prefer Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie-Artois-Hainaut-Flandres and Champagne-Ardennes-Alsace-Lorraine.
>Lotharingia
This
Nouvelle Austrasie was badass but they choose Grand Est
Actually it was New Austrasia, I didn't remember correctly. Still better than Grand Est.
lol what a bunch of fags
the flag is from Aragon, that included Catalonia, Aragon and lately Balearic islands, Valencia, etc.
>new administrative region? I'd rather combine all the regions in Northern France and give it a name "Soissons"
later*
>Une consultation conjointe de France 3 Champagne-Ardenne et France 3 Lorraine montre que le nom « Région Grand Est » arrive en tête parmi les sondés avec 29,38 % des votes. Un autre sondage de L'Est républicain place également le nom « Grand Est » en tête avec 43 % des votes. D'autres noms comme « Nord-Est », « Grand Est Europe », « Cœur d'Europe », « Austrasie », « Eurorégion Est », « Lotharingie » ou encore « Est Europe » ont également été évoqués.
IMAGINE CALLING A REGION "COEUR EUROPE" OR "EUROREGION EST" OR "EST EUROPE"
this is due to reorganitzation during centralitzation of France to damage regional identities and powers, typicaly french
UGH... what could have been...
The French are physically incapable of not exterminating regional identities wherever they come
I hate France so much.
>tfw no demi-Romania 2 in France today
If the Franks hadn't invaded Gaul, we would probably speak a language closer to Occitan today...
We would sound like this: youtube.com
dat almost sounds like valiant Italian
Half of "grand Est" is nowhere near historical lotharingia, that's why. Also Franche-Comté should never ever be included in this shit, it's been its own region historically for a long ass time.
Fuck France, 1678 worst year of my life
>1678 worst year of my life
How much of a boomer are you?
I think it sounds more like Catalan tbqhwyf. Either way I really like it, wish I could speak it even though I'm a northerner.
>region name is "Free County"
>actually not free
i often hear French sounds closer to Catalan than any other. but honestly i can't tell apart differences
>Northerner
T'es descendent du Conquérant :3
>i can't tell apart differences
i mean, i don't understand how they sound similar.
We have the départements since the first revolution to deter regionalism and the royalists have been pushing for regions since the beginning
Before Vichy regions were pretty much a meme
it's a pretty useless division and tbf people who get mad about it are all regionalist trash
>Half of "grand Est" is nowhere near historical lotharingia,
????
I don't think Catalan and French really sound similar but the lexical similarities are undeniable. Not really surprising because it shares a language family with Occitan.
>T'es descendent du Conquérant :3
Ma mère est une grande fan de lui donc elle m'a donné son prénom, mais malheureusement je suis un roturier jusqu'au bout des ongles...
What's Poitou like?
>Ma mère est une grande fan de lui donc elle m'a donné son prénom
nice naming. your name reminds me of Guy (ギヨーム/ギー)from les Parapluies de Cherbourg. come to think of it Cherbourg is at the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, wow coincidence.
>mais malheureusement je suis un roturier jusqu'au bout des ongles...
my ancestors were tenant farmers anyways...
>Catalan
ah quite close when it comes to writings, honestly i don't know anything about Catalan though.
btw what do you think about the integration of Basse-Normandie and Haute-Normandie? i've heard 2016 administrative reunion is unpopular
Well I think it was a good thing. Norman regionalists have always been saying the split was pointless ever since it occurred and I agree with them. The new administrative divisions are unpopular in general, but I wouldn't say they are here.
>nice naming. your name reminds me of Guy (ギヨーム/ギー)from les Parapluies de Cherbourg. come to think of it Cherbourg is at the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, wow coincidence.
About that "Gui"(ギー as well) is one of my nicknames, my mom often calls me that. And my close friends have been calling me ギギ since childhood.
I haven't watched that movie, would you recommend it? And I actually live on the opposite side of the Cotentin peninsula...
Salut Jean-Péquenot Alors t'as réussis à brancher le cable d'alimentation de l'ordinateur ?
>but I wouldn't say they are here
*I wouldn't say this particular one was
ta gueule
>but I wouldn't say they are here.
ah, so for you it's exactly like Bregogne annexes Loire Atlantique again.
>ギー
>ギギ
Ghibli
>I haven't watched that movie, would you recommend it?
>opposite side of the Cotentin peninsula
heh, i don't inquire into it further as it'd be けっこう危ない lol
i wonder what Levant would be like by now had crusader states had successfully defended themselves. Outremer...
>tfw no principality of cilicia
>Bregogne
wtf Bretagne
>ah, so for you it's exactly like Bregogne annexes Loire Atlantique again.
It's a bit more like Avignon being annexed to Provence again. People in Loire Atlantique are definitely very similar to Bretons, but there's "very similar" and "exactly the same" you see.
>omg il semble si adorable... ギギ est le meme que le chat noire de la Posteur de magicale(?). Ghibli
Wasn't it じじ? Also we call it "Kiki, la petite sorcière" in French. And yes, I quite like my nicknames.
>oui, Catherine de Nouv est comme un angie literale
Cool, I'll add it to my backlog.
>heh, i don't inquire into it further as it'd be けっこう危ない lol
Mm, you really are reserved. How Japanese of you.
I can't really return the favor of not inquiring though because I'm a bit curious right now... do you have similar bits of history regarding your name? Like what nicknames do your friends give you, if any?
My guess? A Christian, French-speaking province named OUTREMER. I'm not even religious but that would honestly be so 面白い
>Haut-de-France (upper France)
The previous name wasn't much better, literally "Nord" (north). Is the position if the region the only thing they deemed important enough to put in its name?
>Maupassant
i became unironically chubby-chaser after i read boule de suif
>very similar to Bretons
ah, i used to think Loire Atlantique was the same as Bretagne Historique, thank you.
>Wasn't it じじ?
oh yeah, not ギギ, but ジジ owo
>you really are reserved. How Japanese of you.
ah I'm pretty careful with doxxing because it's such a thing on 2ch.
>what nicknames do your friends give you, if any?
my name is た-く, which is already very short for a Japanese name(names consisting of two hiragana are the shortest). and the end vowel practically drops in a convo, so there's already no need of shortening it, so all of my friends have called me たく. i like it. my kouhai call me たくsenpai (´>ω∂`)
>French-speaking province named OUTREMER
yes... imagine France literally has les territoires d'OUTRE-MERE in Levant, where citizens speak some creole of French and Arabic... ebin.
*mets mon tete sur tes cuisse*
catalans are our bros
never forget alfons el cast and the coupo santo
This, P*risian dogs are at it again
>i became unironically chubby-chaser after i read boule de suif
For me it's le Horla. It traumatized me as a child, and then in high school one of my classmates made a loose adaptation of it as her short film for the year(we were in a cinema optional course) and I appeared in it. It was pretty fun, her movie was definitely the best in the class.
>ah, i used to think Loire Atlantique was the same as Bretagne Historique, thank you
Oh it was, but Brittany is big and there always were cultural differences even inside of it, like two different sprachbunds and stuff. It's not like Normandy and Provence for example. But I would support reunification honestly.
>ah I'm pretty careful with doxxing because it's such a thing on 2ch.
Oh okay. I've only been to 2ch once and left once I realized you need a proxy to post.
>my kouhai call me たくsenpai (´>ω∂`)
Nice...
>tfw you'll never know the feeling of being called or calling someone senpai
What do you think of the nickname I gave you? Does たっくん sound cute or is it a bit unnatural after all?
>yes... imagine France literally has les territoires d'OUTRE-MERE in Levant, where citizens speak some creole of French and Arabic... ebin.
It would be ebin indeed...
People from MENA used to have a bit of an infatuation with the French language too. Like, the last Shah of Iran wrote his autobiography in French and people from Syria and Lebanon used to learn it a lot. It's all over now though...
>そろそろ眠るね!
Oh alright... I'll ask you all of this another time then. Bonne nuit! *te caresse les cheveux*
>le Horla
haven't read it, gonna read it then. ah you made a cinema as well? we did it too like Haruhi. i and two of my friends separated from my entire class to make a stop-motion film while the rest made some generic stuff. was fun af.
>two different sprachbunds
Gallo and Breton right? kouign amann is from Breton
>たっくん
well there's this mother of my kawaii kouhai (male) with whom i (had to) interacted, and she'd often boast about her prestigious lineage and social circle while calling me たっくんたっくんたっくんたっくんたっくん and belittling my unsophistication in a micro-agressive way, so honestly at first i got baffled to be called like that, but now i like it as you've purified toxicity in it lol
>francophile in the Middle East
oh, i've been to Iran and they say "merci" as the most common word for gratitude. was fun.
*ferme les yeux*
Yep, you have to pick an extra course at the end of HS and I picked cinema. You have to make a short film for the year and it counts for the baccalauréat. Very fulfilling experience.
>i like it as you've purified toxicity in it lol
Glad to hear that, also please tell me about your trip to Iran next time, I've always wanted to visit it because Persiaboo and stuff. :D
Alright I won't hold you up any longer, good night mon chéri.
