Thinking of buying XRP I want to buy XRP but i want it online I don't feel like doing this retarded offline cold storage shit. Why would i do it?? I'm supposed to buy and sell, right?
Why would i but some retarded usb that is closed source firmware and the cryptocurrency itself isn't apart of it? On ripple's website, it doesn't tell me to buy ledger nano? Why would i buy it? I am going to buy XRP from Kraken and they say they will keep my XRP safe and stuff. They are the ones that sell the crypto, they are the ones that i cash out with, why would i fucking keep it offline? XRP isn't fucking bitcoin. I would understand to keep bitcoin in cold storage since there are Official ways of doing it but with XRP there is no official way of doing it, there is this 3rd party thing called ledger nano usb.
tldr, is karken going to keep my xrp safe? I'm not going to buy a fucking usb.
would you buy gold at a pawn shop and let them hold onto it for you?
Connor Jackson
would you deposit money at a bank and let them hold onto it for you?
Brandon Moore
people usually put their coins in cold storage because they plan to hold for a long time, more than, lets say, 1 year, 1 year is enough for things to go really bad with the exchange, it could get hacked or become insolvent, small exchanges could exit scam which is concerning if you are holding any significant ammount of money
Charles Howard
Anyone considering buying XRP right now should neck themselves. Buy XLM instead. I don't know why this keeps needing to be said. Buying XRP instead of XLM is like investing in betamax instead of VHS. Like HDdvd instead of Blu-ray
Jaxon Edwards
XRP isnt crypto, its a digital token backed by nothing
James Nelson
Why would they buy the more centralized coin run by the guy who created Mt.Gox and then sabotaged his next project? Some people never learn.
Chase Parker
Which crypto is backed by something?
Josiah Brown
How much are you buying and how much are you willing to risk? Keeping it on exchange may be fine for some people, but only you can make the call.
You must not understand what that means, or how they apply to the token and crypto in question. Nice try though
Lincoln Young
Going to buy 5k of XRP over the course of the year Going to plan to hold til it hits 400 or 500
Angel Scott
Going to hold* Also which exchange should i use? My options are either Uphold or Kraken since im from canada
Carter Anderson
XLM is the little gay and retarded brother of XRP >slower >more centralized >less tps >less development >less adoption >less partnerships >volume on the xlm dex is a fraction of xrp's dex >transactions per day is a fraction of xrp
Samuel Cooper
I've never had an issue with Kraken. Haven't tried Uphold. Just be ready to move it off exchange if XRP moons.
>I've never had an issue with Kraken Good. So, it's safe to buy with Kraken. Do you hold your XRP on Kraken? I going to hold it on Kraken, none of this hardware, wallet bullshit. Like i would invest in a hardware wallet if Ripple themselves said it on their site.
I heard Coinbase is more scammy
Lincoln Gomez
this, why would people buy XLM? I guess they're the same that prefer BCH over BTC and EOS over ETH.
Samuel Clark
>XRP isnt crypto, its a digital token backed by nothing
it's literally a distributed currency backed by cryptographic signatures -- find a definition that excludes bitcoin but not xrp I dare you
If y don't own your private key then y dont your money. That's the point of crypto m8, y don't need a wallet to hodl the coins, y need a a safe place to store the private key that used to access your shit on the blockchain and a address to recieve coins from people. Keepinf them from an exchange didn't give y any control of your shit at all.
Lincoln Lee
They don't, and there's a couple on the App and Play Store.
Mt.gox said they will keep people money safe too. Bitgrail said they will keep people money safe too. And both of them somehow got hacked?yes they don't but their third party wallet is good like the ripple admin console or the Toast Wallet that on both android and ios.
Elijah Hughes
Trying to help out a fellow Canadian. It's what we do. Not trying to ruin someone with bad info, American troll style.
Easton Morgan
Just transfer them back on the exchange then sell for money for btc, xrp tx fee is fucking low m8 like. Dude do y even bother to read about how thing work?
Evan Walker
If ripple supports it then i will install it but i can't right now. I'm just going to stick to Kraken exchange and see what happens. I don't get why people are scared of hacking and shit.
Luis Carter
>I don't get why people are scared of hacking and shit.
You're an unsecured creditor to the exchange. If it gets hacked on any of its massive attack surface area (any coin it trades has a bug) then you will most likely lose all your funds.
just point out the lie and we discuss, any other thing you dont point out its true
Ryder Young
>Mt.gox >Bitgrail I never ever heard of these exchanges in my life until now. The only exchanges i know of is Coinbase (i've heard some stories where anons couldn't cash out or they lost all of it) Kraken and uphold (recently)
Are you sure if i buy XLM i would become rich...? I don't even know shit about it. >exchange >exchange >transfer back okay man, how about i keep the damn XRP on the kraken exchange and cash out on the damn exchange
Xavier Baker
All new deposits go directly to cold wallets, with complete air-gap isolation from any online system.
The vast majority of coins are stored in cold wallets, with complete air-gap isolation from any online system.
A limited number of coins are stored in semi-cold wallets, on protected machines with locked drives.
Only the coins that are needed to maintain operational liquidity are stored in hot (online) wallets.
All wallets are encrypted.
System Security
Kraken's servers reside in locked racks, in a locked private cage, inside a top-tier professional data center: this means armed guards, video surveillance, retina scans, the works.
Data is encrypted wherever possible, and systems are both redundant and isolated from one another.
Data is replicated in real time and backed up on a daily basis.
We currently use Cloudflare, among other measures, for protection from Distributed Denial of Service attacks.
Our office is wired with separate networks for separate purposes. The system our agents use to access your uploaded account verification documents cannot be used for anything else. Support tickets are on a completely separate system, and so on.
Our staff has been thoroughly reviewed, and multiple sign-offs are required for anything remotely sensitive.
Dominic Perry
>okay man, how about i keep the damn XRP on the kraken exchange and cash out on the damn exchange this is why newbies will continue to lose money in crypto lol
kraken is literally mtgox 2.0 as in it's made by the same group of people
Leo Edwards
Financial Security
We maintain full reserves — a "bank run" is an impossibility.
Customer funds reside in a bank account separate from our operations account, and fees are transferred on a daily basis.
Customer funds cannot be borrowed to fund operations, nor can they be lent, even for margin trading on our own platform.
We have solid relations with our bank, and an agreement is in place allowing us to wind down our account in an orderly fashion, should our relationship ever come to an end.
We are pursuing multiple banking partnerships to build in some financial redundancy — so that even should the above situation come to pass, our daily operations will not be interrupted.
Asher Price
>what is a bug in a crypto >what is a 51% attack >what is bankruptcy >what is unsecured creditor
nice list of stupid shit that won't help
Luis Morris
if it's so great then make depositors secured creditors?
Bitcoin's legal status is still being defined, but Kraken takes a highly proactive and informed approach to ensuring legal compliance.
Our approach is to operate conservatively, entirely within the bounds of current law, and to constantly monitor regulatory developments so that we can anticipate changes before they occur.
Our compliance measures are designed by a five-member team of legal advisors, including a full-time General Counsel who is responsible for constantly evaluating our legal stance in the face of regulatory developments.
Carter Jenkins
I'll listen to you if you tell me which operating system you use
Xlm is faster. Xlm is less centralized. These are easily verifiable facts. It has more, bigger announced partnerships. Oh, and Stellarx. It's the most production ready crypto on the market. Xrp is way behind the starting line.
Elijah Ross
I don't give a shit if you keep your currency on an exchange, your loss. It's not safe, never has been. Exchanges have one of the shortest lifecycle of any business. If you want to be chasing around pennies on the dollar as an unsecured creditor to an exchange be my guest.
FYI keeping your currency in a cold paper wallet is the safest option. Next safest is a hardware wallet. Next safest again is iOS phone/ipad app.
Levi Lopez
>Xlm is less centralized. Really? who controls the XLM validating nodes?
Easton Powell
>doesn't me tell which OS he uses Yeah, okay. I was going to follow your advice
Dylan Hernandez
If y believe them enough to keep money for y then be it mate. Really good to see y pick up some xrp it is a good projects anyway. People in this space just trying to tell y that in control of your money / private key is always a better and safer option that all. Mt.gox and Botgrail was one the top and after the hack everything is gone even their name and all of the exchange that got hacked they wrote the same buzz world shit in their term and security like . Good luck mate.
Jose Reed
>I was going to follow your advice
Unironically don't follow any advice from Jow Forums absolute retard. Do your own research.
Stop shilling your shit here he just an educate about wallet and safety wallet.
Elijah Watson
The thing is, ripple is blue balling. They don't have official wallet apps No official desktop wallets Nothing is official, that's why i don't trust anything.
James Lopez
>The thing is, ripple is blue balling. >They don't have official wallet apps >No official desktop wallets >Nothing is official, that's why i don't trust anything.
Neither does stellar?
But Ripple have a reason for it, under the fincen agreement they can't develop anything userfacing.
Blake Jones
This was a counter-shill. Someone above was claiming XLM is decentralised. It is not.
Charles Price
FFS, why is this shit complicated All i want to do is buy 5k XRP, HODL and cash out at 400 or 500
Ethan Reed
Oh shit I qute worng one m8.the ip is confusing af and i'm so fucking high right niw hjahhajh
Logan Hughes
Oh and pay taxes I gotta look into that too.....
Michael Robinson
about 400k people have downloaded and trust toast across ios android pc versions
check the source too if you want
it's the easiest way to hold off an exchange otherwise just hold on an exchange and take the collapse risk
Tyler Morris
Fine fine, i will download it..... Now i gotta buy a fucking phone ahh
Brayden Davis
Just buy on kraken or btc on coinbase and send it to binance. Not hard you brainlet.
Everything in that post is a lie anyone can deny in 2 minutes using Google 1500 tps vs 1000 of xlm 3 second transacción vs 5 to 7 of xlm More than 100 validators with over 99% agreement, over 700 nodes, of xrp vs 10 "sponsored validators" >No adoption Rppl.info xlm is the retarded and lacking development brother of xrp
Connor Russell
c'mon dude, ripple?! really?! they just ost a big fish, Western Union. they couldn't meet what they ve promised/ you better find oher project to invent in. Sky for example. Now with Island preparing to give the BTC datacenters for re-use because they won't mine anymore, since btc will crash, SKY will step in it
Carson Robinson
May have lost WU, may not have. We don't know. They did 10 transactions using xrp in 6 months. Other partners are very very positive about the use of xrp and the benefits thereof. I'm long on xrp but only time will tell. It's still very early in the game, and a lot of things can happen very fast either positive or negative.
SAMA, UAE, KOTAK MAHINDRA , YESBANK, MONEYGRAM the whole list is just tooooo looong to pull it out the sleeve :D But i will leave this here for educational purposes
I was going to buy xrp from kraken, then send the xrp to the toast wallet
Brayden Harris
This is the definition of a brainlet
Ethan Russell
Just buy a Nano, from the official Ledger website. Funds are safu.
Adam Rivera
This idea is bad?
Henry Baker
Shit newfags say >I don't feel like doing this retarded offline cold storage shit. One of the issue with XRP is its a newfag coin, the problem is the purchasers have not DTOR or haven't done much. This brings weak hands. Weak hands drop the price.
Also the case(s) against ripple for being a security have not been settled. it brings doubt. XRP is most likely a security the arguments are not based in reality...
>I'm not going to buy a fucking usb You truly do not care about your financial future!
Blake Cook
Someone has been keeping mine safe for a while now, I hope they can become best friends.
You are making it complicated cause you are a arrogant newfag! Please go to /reddit/, you will get help there as they are no the same wave length as you!
Gabriel Allen
I'm going to get a wallet, relax Not gonna buy a fucking ledger nano usb Fuck windows Fuck ledger nano Shit looks sketchy
