What do you think of funny money, /biz? There's still counterfeiters selling them on le naughtyweb, even the new $100 bill with the hologram can be faked now. They can be pretty expensive though, but buying $10k worth of counterfeits still yields over 50% profit if you can pass them all off successfully. And apparently a lot of them are being made down south now.

I think it’s more legitimate than credit card fraud because at least you’re not stealing from one person who worked hard to get his money, vs. screwing the government over because the U.S can take a hit better than one guy losing $2k - $3k.

Before the new 100$s, the 20$ bill was more difficult to counterfeit - different paper, dimensions of the bill, and ink.
At the time a lot of places didn't accept 100$ bills so the 20$ was more crucial to protect
2$ bills have the same dimensions as the old 100$ so you can bleach the paper of a 2 and print a 100. paper is more difficult to counterfeit
A 100 got an upgrade first because of the inflation and higher circulation of 100$s in cash economies
