This thread is for the discussion of the language, culture, travel, daily life, etc. of Japan. Let's tark at randam in Japanese and English. Take it easy!
I'm kind of interest in the japanese language, maybe I'm gonna give it a try It would be my first non indo-european language, so I'm a little bit skeptical about how to go about it (don't even know where to start) Can you guys tell me what is best to bear in mind after I've memorized all the hiragana/katakana stuff? I've done some wikipedia research and found out that most kanji aren't just "single words", they can be pronounced diffly and have different meanings depending on random circumstances Is reading japanese kanji really that complicated? I know many people probably had already asked you similar questions many times, but I think that if I like the learning process of the language I could start posting on this general every now and then Thanks for reading/possibly answering
Learnng any language takes a lot of time and efforts... especially when it's very different from langages you already speak. You can casually start learning Japanese, but I don't think you will be able to continue long enough to be passable if you don't have clear and strong motives.
>Can you guys tell me what is best to bear in mind after I've memorized all the hiragana/katakana stuff? Probably it would be better not to too much focus on memorizing Kanjis without focusing enough on learning its sentence structure before you get used to reading simple sentences which are only written in Hiragana and Katakana because you might get bored easily with such continuous hectic task, I think so.
>のはなぜか? >のは You know I come here from time to time asking what the fuck this means and the most I get is when it's used with a pronoun it means "your thing", "my thing" or so. Here there's nothing. Explain to me this feature.
So it's stuffing the entire sentence A into a quote?

not him Although his explanation sounds right to me, I'd like to add something. Its usage is like "that" in a nominal that-clause in English, so you can convert a sentence to a noun clause as a subject with "のは" just like "Why is it that blah blah blah...?" >(金髪にすると誰でも色白に見える)のは
thanks. Are there any hashtags or anything I can search for to find more?
