You find your own worth based on your experience, and what you can bring to the company. Then add 20% to that onto that on the assumption you're taking on extra responsibility.

If they lowball you, then ensure they expect little from you. You're pay = you're worth to the company. Accepting low pay = you value yourself low. Simple as.

You don't ow them for this job, they ow you and should be willing to fairly compensate you for the value you bring to the business.

have some idea what the geographical and industry standards are

i've always had good success negotiating salary when I can basically talk about "the average rate in 2018 in this part of the country is $X" and talk about it analyitically. You still might not get exactly what you want but at least you're using sound logic with data you can reference, rather than gut feeling or appeal to emotion.
