The benefit of greater purchasing power is offset by the throw-away culture of Americans. On living standards, only rabid consumerists will feel the greatest impact.

Trump just does stuff that makes him look good as he's an attention whore. This might sound good to lower working class people but it's really a tax on them.

Trade wars were not started by Trump. The EU has been a protectionist shitshow for decades and the very same people who now claim trade wars are going to destroy us are the ones who opposed free trade between the EU and the US.

The EU has 1000s of regulations made specifically to force American and foreigner producers to re-make their products for the EU market.

1000s of subsidies to make their products more competitive, hurting other sectors less prone to competition, more oriented to the local economy.

Kim dotcom said stocks will go down so people will invest in crypto. also Chinese will buy crypto to bypass capital controls to move their money as trade wars affect Chinese economy.

The Shanghai Composite is already in a bear market, suffering badly. What’s worse for them is that Chinese stocks are quite leveraged too, but they are leveraged with stocks rather than money. This means if the index keeps tanking, it will trigger a margin call where all the borrowed stocks will have to be sold off to raise capital at any price which ultimately leads to a selling spiral. As prices sink, the problem exasperates itself more. Moreover, China doesn’t have that many imports to even put tariffs on coming from the US and could instead dump American Treasuries at low prices to cause a yield spike. If this happens, our markets will tank since they are held up by record-level corporate buybacks financed with debt, especially tech stocks
