Until I encountered americans on the internet (that is after learning english) I've never realized that a healthy human being can care so much about - race - height - politics
This was the eye opener to me. There's a very old russian saying that goes "dumb americans" and people just throw it randomly here and there. I always thought that it was somewhat ignorant since they don't even know the language and could never communicate with americans. But it turned out that the phrase appeared to be coined by a person who knew americans extremely well. It's spot on. Discovering american culture is like observing insects in your home aquarium. So dumb, ignorant, miserable and petty towards everything around them.
Have you revealed the same for yourselves? What was your experience with the american culture since you've learned english?
>inb4 russians say I'm a putinbot >inb4 americans try to defend themselves >inb4 nordic retards praise american culture because for some reason they're already infected
Most people in this country really don’t give a shit about that stuff. Our media just likes to be as sensationalist and controversial as possible to make as much money as possible. We actually have extremely low voter participation and most people don’t even think about it.
And I will say this, most of the stuff about race is pretty recent. In the 80s and 90s it was considered taboo to bring up someone’s race unless it was absolutely necessary. Now it’s shoved in everything because businesses think it makes them look progressive.

politics is serious business however race and height are memes if you didn't know but they are fun to talk about
russians literally have nothing to brag about over americans. you're worse than us in every way
Jaxon Bailey
>caring about politics is a bad thing
But for the other two, height and race, 90% of Americans couldn't care less
Also nice cold war adage You dirty slav

Knowing politics doesn't give you any powers or any more value as a citizen, so it's only a topic that you can bring up and talk about, just like any other topic you could've brought up actually. It's literally the real life version of shounen anime like naruto - instead of bringing up a deep and interesting topic you just go for the most controversial one to feel that adrenaline pumping as you ruin any relationships you've ever had with the person you argue with, while at the same time putting political labels on them which admittedly would make it easier on your brain to evaluate a person, albeit incorrectly. With economics, law, even history, you can find some actual practical use to that knowledge. With politics? Unless you work for the government or for media, your knowledge is useless. >muh elections >can choose muh candidates Yeah dude. Big deal.
Brody Cruz
I agree that American politics is shit but you are vastly overestimating how many Americans care. Most people don’t give a shit. We have the lowest voter turnouts in the western world

I can concur that their obsession with height seems kinda odd and unhealthy.

Something that I've recently realized is that Americans are very willing to argue for our government, politics and culture, but only if a foreigner mentions it. I think this is a large reason why there are so many stupid American posts. I've made a conscious effort not to defend stupid Americanisms anymore.

You're honestly pretty much right. I try to talk to my friends, family, girlfriend about geopolitics or history or other cultures and pretty much no one cares. That's why I love talking to foreginers here and irl, the different worldview is always so apparent. Don't get me wrong I love my countrymen, their childlike simplicity can be endearing, but oftentimes it can be a little frustrating. Can't wait till the weather warms up and I can just go into the woods

Do you know where the wird idiot comes from? In ancient greece it was a word for someone that didnt take part in politics. And thats the thing, modern """""democracies""""" are a petty farce of actual politics so you automatically look stupid when participating, isnt the fault of americans tho. Other than that theyre the descendents of mouthbreathing peasants that are used as taxmony cattle/wageslaves and are intntionally kept as moronic as possible. What else would you expect from them under these circumstances.
Connor Rogers
>inb4 americans try to defend themselves
welp i guess you're right then

>like observing insects Very loud ones at that. Apologies to the insects for such a comparison
I think you can find some people to talk about geopolitics, they might be horribly uninformed but you can do it. I do agree however that NOBODY irl wants to talk about history. It's an automatic turn brain off for a lot of people for some reason.

I agree. American culture just feels so childish, dramatic and over the top. I’ve gotten sick of it.

Obsession with Race is definitely an American thing. All the Non-Americans on Jow Forums who have picked it up have copied Americans so as to fit in. America is so racially charged, it's ridiculous by any other country's standards.

I told one of my relatives that I like reading about world events, and he said "What's the point?"

>Our media just likes to be as sensationalist and controversial as possible
Well that's getting universal. The most outrageous shit gets pushed to the top, and even the milder stuff gets sensationalized to drive traffic and get revenue. I hate it, but I admit that getting mad is a bit of a high for me. So I get why people do it.
Liam Nelson
a country that struggled with slavery for a good portion of it that brought a terrible civil war and didn't give rights to blacks up until the 60's is racially charged? who would had thunk
