I kinda like the pace of football. It builds tension, when a team is trying for a big olay to save them, time slows down and you have time to think of exactly what needs to happen and what is worst case. Everyone knows and you can see the intensity in the players eyes, then they snap the ball and see if they can pull it off. Idk, i love it. Most penalties can suck a duck though. There is holding on every play andnthe refs pick and choose when to call it, that is pure bs.

During the super bowl todd gury finally broke a huge run to get th rams offense in a great spot, but a ref called a holding penalty on an offensive lineman on the complete opposite of the field basically, those two players had no bearing on the play and it wasnt over the top holding either. That just pissed me off so much.

We're used to instant gratification. Baseball and football are much more complicated, hockey is similar but much more violent, and basketball is much faster pace. I think the simplicity and lack of scoring put me off. The reason we suck at it is because most people with the cardio endurance and spacial reasoning to excel at it are playing sports that pay them more money. On a side note it's an extremely popular "entry level" sport here, those who grasp the concept and want to continue playing sports for the most part switch to something else. I'm willing to bet that 90% of the US posters here were on a "team" at one point.

I like both football and soccer. Basketball is the worst sport in the world though. Whenever I watch basketball the same thing happens over and over again on a loop. One team gets the ball, runs over to the other side of the court, they pass it around until someone wants to go for the layup, then the ref blows his whistle and they throw free throws instead. I have never seen a game of basketball that wasn't this exact process for 90% of the game.
