DJT is a Japanese language 勉強スレ for anyone interested in the language, anime, manga, visual novels, light novels and Japanese video games. Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.
You dismayed me. I was impressed, really exited, and even was jotting down to inform you of some minor corrections. >1. broccoli is not "green pepper(ピーマン)" >2.はい、がんばりまーす うん、がんばるよ!! Where had your waifu and musume gone? What are you gonna tell to your mom? What are you gonna talk to the nurse? What would she think about for your situation and brave resolution? I got really dismayed..
>yours looks perfect This. When I get my post corrected by native (tier) anons, it simply looks "tidy", "neat" and even "beautiful". When I listen to Japanese and native speakers talking in English, sometimes it is rather Japanese whose language is harder to understand. Even though I couldn't get what natives are speaking in their accents, it simply sounds "natural".

What do you guys do when you're too tired to think at work?
we have the word Schlagstock for pic related (schlagen = 殴る) but "stick" is the english version of the word and "Gewaltstock" (which does not exist in german) would literally translate to 暴力棒
>Gewaltstock Thanks > 暴力棒 Cute This In late 60s lefty uni students campained toward the gov, using that sticks and Molotov cocktails as their handy weapons, and ended up in 地で血を洗う faction battle. >and in that era still German was regarded as the language for highly educated ones, they prefered to use it even for their jargons.
interesting i know that word from yiddish. it means the same, but is used more to mean a cry for help. we even have a term in politics called "gewalt campaign" which is when a party calls traditional voters back to it because they are in danger of disappearing
Jose Ortiz
and maybe コンパ was invented in the same ear as well, as a synonym of "飲み会". I am not sure from what language it was derived though. And I have heard "ゲルナイ" as one of those jargons. Could you anons guess the meaning? >yiddish. it means the same hmmm sounds like another 日ユ同祖論 desuu..
>語源はドイツ語: Kompanie、英語: company、フランス語: compagnieなどに由来する seems like nobody is sure because we all use the same word. I'd guess German or French because the english pa is not a パ at all
Zachary Robinson
What are you anons gonna eat for dinner(hopefully answer in Japanese please)? I am going to buy 即席カレー or 冷食 as my lazy supper. >and some beer as well.
>German was regarded as the language for highly educated ones And above all, Karl Marx was a German.
Googling "깐풍기 とは" shows you katakana approximation, "カンプンギ"
Jose Lewis
I imposed dekinai-chan お百度参り on myself as my 苦行. パンいいですね。みんなパンは大好き。 もしかし"たら"赤ワイン? >깐풍기 as he said, it would be カンプンギ but no a common name here, we may call it "鳥の唐揚甘酢がけ" instead of it. And as you and stimulated my appetite, I bought this, and your sentence is just fine. >約魚 これは本で読んだ事がある…ティラピアですか?鱗がある魚ですよね。 >イスラエルで"は"、金曜日"は"家族"みんなで"晩ご飯""を一緒に食べます。"一週間"の一番大事"な"食事なのです。 トルティリーニいいですね。みんなラビオリは大好き。
The first chapter of よつばと! took longer than I want to admit. I also constantly cross-referenced with an official translation in the beginning to check my own understanding.
I don't usually see it recommended this way, but it helped me overcome those early problems I had with real text.
>read manga >new katakana loanword word not in any dictionary Do you also sometimes feel the urge to slap these fucking asian monkeys?

Question for japan bros, my JP friend is interested in using Anki for english learning after I talked about my JP studies. Which deck should I recommend to him? I know I can just alter the core 6k deck to show the english vocab on front but surely there is a better deck for this. Are there any good JP > english vocab decks?

The truth is, nhk easy news is retarded fake Japanese and reading it all day won't magically make any other stuff easier to read.
You think you can't manage it yet, but in reality you need to overcome your hardship and look up all the stuff you don't know in order to improve. Efficiently looking up words and grammar points you don't know is imo the most important thing when it comes to learning Japanese, that and enough exposure to the language.
Logan Wood
It will help you recognize kanji and help you with grammar. Reading it all day will make other stuff easier to read, though not magically.
I don't think it is a shortened form of it, but both work and are the same meaning. I maybe prefer your example/alternative to original one. It sounds a really bit more comfortable to my ears.
Gavin King
I see, thank you. I thought 異質 felt weird by itself here but this is probably because I haven't seen the word in enough contexts.
James Brooks
there is almost no miniskirt at least in my sticks surrounded by aged people. but probably closer to cities, more of the pokemons appears
I think Japanese things in foreign country's show are made by some patterns, and they are fixed.
1.appear ugly face woman 2.an actor who act Japanese person is non-Japanese 3.draw coin slot eyes in Japanese persons faces in cartoon 4.yukata is casual clothes 5.all woman's hair is like sazae san 6.appear a red color palace 7.put one's hands together and bow 8.using Japanese sex terms 9.beat a gong at the end

THE SINGAPORE user: ""
GABRIEL: "...Hello retard, my old friend I just hided your posts Because a vision deadly cringing Rotted my eyeball while I was reading And the vision that called other retards With shitposts Echoing the sound of pervert
I desired while I was posting The Singaporean kill himself By jumping off a high building Or stabbed to death by a little girl I was steeped in bliss And then looked at bottom of the thread The shit still posted And strewed the sound of pervert
And he was posting images of the cunt Stupid screenshots of posts as well Posters stopped learning foreign languages Posters stopped reading the DJT thread Posters stopped thinking about the shitposts and the retard And no one there Except the sound of pervert"
>I think Japanese things in foreign country's show are made by some patterns, and they are fixed. What did you mean by >and they are fixed ? Did you mean "they follow the same old, unchanging patterns"?
Sebastian Bennett
fantastic post one of the best of all time
Isaiah Richardson
GABRIEL: "... Hello retard, my old friend, I just hid your posts Because a vision deadly cringing Rotted my eyeball while I was reading, And the vision called other retards With shitposts Echoing the sound of pervert.
I desired, while I was posting, That the Singaporean kill himself By jumping off a high building Or being stabbed to death by a little girl. I was steeped in bliss. And then I looked at bottom of the thread And the shit was still posted, Still strewing forth the sound of pervert.
And he was posting images of a cunt. Stupid screenshots of posts as well. Posters stopped learning foreign languages. Posters stopped reading the DJT thread. Posters stopped thinking about the shitposts and the retard. And then there was no one there. Only the sound of pervert."
>a vision deadly cringing Using "cringing" as an adjective here doesn't work grammatically, but it sounds good in a poetic way, like Edgar Allen Poe. The rhythm of this line and the next one reminds me of his poem "The Raven."
>And the vision that called other retards The meaning of this line is unclear to me, but it mostly makes sense if you remove the word "that," so I guessed and removed it in my translation above.
>Echoing the sound of pervert "Perversion" would be a better noun than "pervert" here, but "pervert" also sounds good in a poetic way. "Sound" could also be "sounds" but both work.
I found a key that might be one of the cells in this cell and could reach it to hold it.
Oh, that key gave me a sense of wisdom.
This is what I have to put in this empty room. It was easy because I had the information.
Bentley Mitchell
I will find the key that is probably the one of this cell and reach for reach to grab it.
Oh, that key was gave me a fucking wise.
Thanks to that, I got to put it in this solitary cell. It was convenient as it was where I was scrambling.
Jackson Torres
>おそらくこの独房のものであろう鍵を見つけ、掴み取ろうと手を伸ばす。 He [They? It?] will probably find the key that seems like it opens this cell and try to take it for himself. >ああその鍵はな、ワイズって野郎がくれたんだ。 Oh, about that key... A guy named Waizu [Wise?] gave it to me. >おかげでこいつの独房に入れるようになった。ちょうどムラムラしてたとこだったから都合がいいぜ。 Thanks to it, I can now freely enter this girl's cell. Which is perfect, because I just happened to be kind of horny.
First line is hard to translate without knowing what's going on. My interpretation may be wrong.
I've always thought Chinese seemed like hard mode compared to Japanese when it came to counters. 隻: >Classifier for one of a pair >Classifier for certain animals, boats and containers 枚: >Classifier for small, flat objects, such as coins, stamps, badges, pearls, sporting medals >Classifier for rockets, satellites and certain weapons (especially bombs) 條: >Classifier for long and thin object or animal >Classifier for something that can be listed item by item, such as reasons, (pieces of) news, messages, advices, etc 道: >Classifier for long things >Classifier for barriers >Classifier for courses in a meal: dish >Classifier for questions (in an exam), orders or proclamations
So we can be thankful to play on easy mode.
Logan Johnson
一隻筆 枚 I never used much 一條蛇 道 same too
Jordan Williams
一人都合が悪くなった
What is this supposed to mean? "One person became inconvenient"?
