Nice 4s Hi op, right now because we are in America (land of fat) it is a pretty good idea to open a donut shop. But that's just me.

take away the sprinkles and that looks like an anus that got WORKED on

Theres a bunch where I live, like 1 every 5 blocks average. And non have closed down in the 4 years I've lived here.

If I was you I would go to local businesses/offices and try to get them to sign up for a doughnut plan. Deliver fresh donuts every friday or x days for a subscription or something like that. You might want to try that before commiting to an actual store.

good one user.

Oversaturated in most us cities. Try a smaller college town maybe. You want to open up somewhere with foot traffic. Donut shops arent destinations. Towns with bakeries that only cater or make finer deserts will also give you room to wiggle into the market, but these guys can adapt to your competition with very low capital. How would you source ingredients etc? Do you know anything about baking equipment costs, square footage required, permits?

Depends where. In a trendy coffee shop district, sure, you'd have to have a gimmick to stand out though.

donuts are cheap to make, stores are expensive to buy, the start up capital is a little up their once you include labor

If you open one of the franchised doughnut shops such as Dunkin', it's a living. My understanding from a few years ago is that a typical *successful* store allows the owner to make $60,000 to $80,000 profit per year per store. Note that I'm talking about a successful store. You must have your doughnut shop in a place where there are enough customers and few enough competitors that you can make a profit. So picking a location is extremely important to the success or failure of the business.

Lots of doughnut shops in my area are money laundering fronts. Same with some restaurants and antique shops.

That looks like an anus

>live in germany
>next donut shop is 400 km away from my location
>might open up a donut store for real

if you do something well and over the top and market like fuck on instagram, restaurants are good business rn

Open your donut shop wide and let me enter

Not always laundering, but often times just there because the owner has too much money and just bought them as a way to diversify but not concentrate on them. Many shops like that just break even or very little profit but keep running anyway because the owner says why not?

The town I live there are hundreds of these shops (because its a nice area) so the wives of the wealthy husbands all have hobby shops open that exist for no other reason than to keep her busy lmao

Donut market good. vewy gooood.

Get in on the ground floor user

imagine a cute girl working at dunkin donuts handing you that and telling you to eat it in front of her

Are you prepared to wake up at 2 AM and work your ass off for 14 hours a day, 7 days a week? If so, then yes, donut shops are pretty good business. Just set up near a busy intersection, a business park, or a church.

If you open a donut shop YOU MUST FRY THEM IN THE SHOP WHERE I CAN SEE. So many of these stupid places get their "fresh" donuts delivered once a day from some factory

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS

In general I've learned that having a Jow Forumsness sucks ass. You work nonstop forever everyday and make no money for years if you're lucky. Never if you're unlucky. Fuck that get a comfy job and gamble on the side

Kwazy millenials and their donut faces.

Google the donut bar in San Diego. They sell over glorified gourmet donuts and beer. A fucking diabetes venue. But anyway, they market it very well. They only sell fresh donuts. And there’s a street block line just to buy them. Also the owner has a lambo parked outside, so people love taking pictures (more advertisement). You really have to put on your normie Hat to make a donut establishment succeed

open a ponut shop instead

>thread is still up after 8 goddamn hours
The moderation here is so lax compared to /v/

Yes, donuts are somewhat profitable, but you really need to put yourself as far away from other Donut Shops as possible

I think so. There's this Asian ice cream chain in socal called Afters that serves ice cream/donut sandwichs. There's also one called Diddy Reese near UCLA that serves cookie/ice cream sandwiches for really cheap. At night there's usually a line to these places. Donuts shops are cheap and easy startups for first time business owners I think. Maybe consider a dry cleaners, self-serve car wash or even a coffee shop as well?

OP, ask burmese/lao/cambodian people, a cambodian girl i used to fk said her senpai owned the chain of donut shops in long beach

The most important factor is the location. You need to open a donut shop right next to a police station.

cupcakes ftw

Great advice here.

What about a general dessert shop that delivers through just eat?

Waffles, apple pie, cakes, slushes, ice cream, banana fritters, cinema style popcorn. There are few places that specialise in that sort of stuff.

Fuck a shop mate. For a couple grand you can buy a donut shop on wheels.
Head off to events and sell mini doughnuts.
My friend was doing this for less then a year, bought several of these donut stands and now has over 50 across the country being operated by people and he makes a cut.
