Basically this, I've talked to a bunch of people who have this mentality. There's also the mentality that they will survive no matter how horrible the invasion ends up being as though no matter how bad things become they'll overcome so they don't need to fear death as it's an impossibility for them.

I for one regularly do that as well and can feel Americanbros wanting that too. I was at war and it was the best time of my life, pic related. I am also of that opinion that humans need war from time to time or we become too comfortable, rotten and mentally degenerated. You can't appraise peace if you don't know the war, can't really understand beauty if you don't know ugliness. Reason why United States are culturally so fubar is that they never had war in their homeland and everything war-related they do, they outsource - "Let's this handpicked guys do that as far as possible from our homes and country." Same applies to law enforcement and nearly everything else. You can't imagine how detached from real world people are.

Take death for example - something so natural and normal, yet everyone is all triggered when you talk about it. In the past, people were used to it because when someone in your family died, it was you who had to take care about EVERYTHING - from taking care about the corpse to the funeral duties themselves. Nowadays you call a number, people arrive and will do everything for you. Same with birthing - you can't get more natural thing as giving birth. Yet again, most of the people feel disgusted by the thought.

I don't know who it was, but I've read this good quote - that war is a same thing for a man as being mother for a woman.
