I love San Francisco "memorabilia" and images of the city because it's beautiful, but this city is now basically reserved for the top 1% of earners in the world. I don't entertain the idea of ever being able to live there.

Also you can live outside the city itself and take the BART. San Francisco itself is like Manhattan, the center of a much bigger metro area.

I had a chance to live and work there (software, for a lot of money). My gf and I decided that living in a massachusetts suburb was a safer bet for good public schools, than buying a 1-2.5m home and hoping the CA education system doesn't go bankrupt

Gang violence stays intragang, mostly. San Francisco is not a violent city but it sure has a lot of pickpockets and drug dealers coming in from all over the area

I live in San Jose but I go there several times a week for job/girlfriend purposes.

I don't know, I kinda like the idea of living in a comfy suburb in San Jose and go there whenever I want to do cool stuff. It takes 45 min by car.

My girlfriend wants to move up there but I'm kinda hesitant to the idea.

Honestly underwhelmed by it, my expectations were too high.

It's one of the most iconic cities in America so I thought it would be something else. In reality it's not different from other major US cities. Not as pretty as I thought and filled with homeless people.

Damn, we found the one guy who actually reads travel brochures.

Not travel brouchures but American media in general. Thought SF would be more developed than the rest of the US just because of how wealthy it is.
